Alqotr is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager in Riyadh to oversee all financial data, ensure accuracy, and enforce accounting standards. This role requires leadership of the finance function and ongoing adherence to approved policies.

You will lead AR, AP, GL, payroll, fixed assets, and the month-/year-end closing, preparing financial statements and coordinating audits to support management decisions.

Job description

Manage and oversee all accounting operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data and records, and compliance with approved accounting policies, procedures, and standards.

The role includes oversight of Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), Payroll Accounting, Fixed Assets, Reconciliations, Project & Cost Accounting, as well as Month-End and Year-End Closing and the preparation and review of financial statements and reports.

The objective of the role is to ensure that accurate, reliable, complete, and timely financial information is available to support management decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Oversee AR, AP, GL, and payroll accounting activities.
  • Review material accounting transactions and journal entries within the approved authority limits.
  • Ensure completeness of supporting documentation and accuracy of accounting treatment.
  • Follow up on accounting errors and discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Allocate responsibilities among the accounting team and monitor performance and quality of work.

Accounts Receivable – AR:

  • Oversee customer invoicing, balances, and accounting treatment of collections.
  • Review AR Aging and Customer Reconciliation.
  • Ensure reconciliation of the AR Subledger with the General Ledger.
  • Review Credit Notes and customer‑related adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with approved policies.

Accounts Payable – AP:

  • Oversee suppliers, invoices, expenses, and liabilities.
  • Review Vendor Reconciliation and AP Aging.
  • Ensure reconciliation of the AP Subledger with the General Ledger.
  • Ensure expenses and liabilities are recorded in the correct accounting period.
  • Ensure proper allocation of expenses to the appropriate accounts, projects, and cost centers.
  • Coordinate with Treasury regarding accounting information required for payments and cash planning.

General Ledger & Reconciliation:

  • Oversee the General Ledger and ensure the integrity of balances and transactions.
  • Review Journal Entries, correcting entries, and reclassification entries.
  • Oversee Accruals, Prepayments, and accounting adjustments.
  • Review the Trial Balance and analyze unusual balances and movements.
  • Oversee periodic reconciliations of key accounts, including Bank, AR, AP, Payroll, VAT, Advances, Fixed Assets, and other relevant accounts.
  • Follow up on Suspense Accounts, Clearing Accounts, and outstanding unreconciled balances.

Payroll Accounting:

  • Oversee the accounting treatment of salaries, wages, and related liabilities.
  • Ensure reconciliation of Payroll with the General Ledger, bank accounts, and related liabilities.
  • Review the allocation of payroll costs to projects and cost centers.

Fixed Assets:

  • Oversee the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Review asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Ensure reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Register with the General Ledger.

Project & Cost Accounting:

  • Ensure revenues and costs are allocated to the correct projects, cost centers, and accounts.
  • Review Project Costs, Payroll Costs, and direct and indirect costs.
  • Support the Finance function in analyzing Project Profitability and margins.
  • Analyze significant variances in project costs and raise relevant observations.

Month-End & Year-End Closing:

  • Lead and monitor the Month-End and Year-End Closing process.
  • Prepare and monitor the Closing Calendar and ensure compliance with established deadlines.
  • Ensure completion of all required reconciliations, adjustments, and closing activities.
  • Review the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet accounts, and P&L prior to final closing.
  • Ensure completion of Cut-off procedures and required accounting entries and adjustments.
  • Ensure the readiness of accounts and financial statements for management review and audit.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and periodic reports.
  • Review the Balance Sheet and P&L and coordinate with Treasury regarding information required for cash flow reporting.
  • Prepare and review Management Reports.
  • Analyze Revenue, Costs, Profitability, and Working Capital.
  • Analyze variances between Actual, Budget, and Previous Period.
  • Provide clear explanations for significant variances and raise relevant observations and recommendations to Finance Management.

Internal Controls:

  • Oversee the implementation of internal controls related to the accounting cycle.
  • Ensure proper supporting documentation, approvals, and accounting entries.
  • Monitor Segregation of Duties, Approval Matrix, and User Access in coordination with relevant functions.
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial cycle from recording through reconciliation and review.
  • Identify accounting risks and recommend corrective and improvement actions.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Coordinate with External Auditors and Internal Audit regarding accounting requirements.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documents required for audit activities.
  • Respond to accounting inquiries and follow up on the PBC List.
  • Follow up on audit observations and accounting adjustments.
  • Support compliance with relevant tax requirements and ZATCA requirements in coordination with the responsible functions.
  • Ensure application of the company's approved accounting policies and standards.
  • Participate in the preparation and updating of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accounting treatments are applied in accordance with approved policies and standards.
  • Oversee the integrity of the Chart of Accounts, Account Mapping, Cost Centers, Projects, and Tax Codes.
  • Monitor integration between accounting systems, Subledgers, and the General Ledger.
  • Follow up on system issues that affect financial data and reporting.

Accounting Team Management:

  • Allocate tasks and responsibilities among the accounting team.
  • Monitor performance and compliance with closing and reporting deadlines.
  • Review the quality and accuracy of the team's work.
  • Train and develop team members and identify development needs.
  • Establish and monitor team KPIs.
  • Ensure clear ownership of each key accounting process and account.
