Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Golf Course & Landscape Operations Engineer to oversee and monitor landscaping service provider activities across multiple sites, with primary focus on golf course facilities. This role requires demonstrated expertise in golf course maintenance operations combined with facility management contract oversight capabilities. The ideal candidate will bring practical golf course maintenance experience and proven ability to manage third-party service providers under FM contracts, ensuring all operations meet contractual obligations, quality standards, and sustainability requirements while maintaining compliance with local regulations. Golf course maintenance experience is mandatory and non-negotiable for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Provider Oversight & Contract Management: Supervise and monitor landscaping service provider activities across all sites, ensuring performance meets contractual and quality standards Review and approve service provider's maintenance schedules, planting programs, and manpower allocation Ensure compliance with scope of work, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs) Review monthly reports, checklists, and performance data submitted by service provider Issue inspection reports, highlight non-conformances, and follow up on corrective actions
- Golf Course & Landscape Operations: Conduct regular inspections of softscape areas (lawns, trees, shrubs, groundcovers, flowers) and hardscape features (paved areas, planters, irrigation systems) Verify that maintenance activities (pruning, fertilization, pest control, replanting, irrigation) are carried out per approved service delivery plan Inspect irrigation systems, report faults, and follow up on rectifications by service provider Monitor and report on water usage efficiency, sustainability measures, and compliance with MEWA and other local authority requirements
- Coordination & Compliance: Coordinate with operations team, client representatives, and service providers to resolve site issues Support management team in preparing presentations, audit data, and improvement proposals for landscape management Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards during all landscaping operations
Requirements
- Golf Course Maintenance Operations: Minimum 5 years of hands-on golf course maintenance experience - Experience as Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Head Greenkeeper, or similar operational role Demonstrated technical knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, pest control, and golf course operations Proven ability to maintain golf courses to high quality standards in challenging climates
- Facility Management & Contract Operations: 7+ years in landscaping inspection or supervision within large-scale or prestigious facilities Experience managing or monitoring third-party landscaping service providers under FM contracts Background in maintenance and facility management operations (not design & construction) Familiar with FM operations, SLAs, KPIs, and performance monitoring systems
- Technical & Regulatory Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of landscaping operations and irrigation systems maintenance Understanding of Saudi environmental and sustainability regulations (MEWA compliance) Experience with contractor performance evaluation and quality compliance monitoring
Skills & Knowledge
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of entomology and integrated pest management (IPM) practices Proficient in inspection, reporting, and contractor performance evaluation Understanding of warm-season turf management (Bermuda, Paspalum, etc.) Irrigation system troubleshooting and water efficiency management
- Professional Capabilities: Excellent communication, observation, and documentation skills Ability to perform independent inspections and provide clear reporting and follow-up Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality compliance Proven ability to coordinate between multiple stakeholders (clients, contractors, operations teams)
Education
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Agriculture, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Landscaping Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSAA certification or equivalent professional credentials
- Experience in GCC/Middle East golf course operations
- Knowledge of TSE (Treated Sewage Effluent) irrigation systems
- Pesticide/chemical application certifications
- Familiarity with golf course industry standards and best practices
