Job summary

BRKZ, a Saudi Arabian construction-tech startup, seeks a Financial Controller to own the full accounting function, drive robust financial controls, and scale the finance team as the company grows rapidly. You will lead audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver timely financial insights.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, and audit requirements, with startup or marketplace exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, audit, and compliance requirements.
• Strong technical accounting skills and ability to prepare accurate financial statements.
• Experience owning accounting, audit, and reporting functions end to end.
• Startup experience and construction/building materials exposure is a strong plus.
• Strong Arabic and English communication skills.
• Strong command of Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting function including GL, payables, receivables, fixed assets, accruals, reconciliations, payroll, and monthly closing.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with timely, accurate statements.
• Prepare and review management reports, financial statements, and reporting packs for leadership, banks, and auditors.
• Own external audit process end to end; prepare schedules and coordinate with auditors.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi laws including tax, zakat, VAT, withholding tax, and e-invoicing.

As a Financial Controller you will be responsible and accountable for all accounting, audit, and financial reporting functions at BRKZ. This is not a traditional, high-level oversight or advisory position. We are looking for a builder, someone who will operate directly in the trenches, establish robust financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and actively develop our finance team as the company continues to scale rapidly.

The ideal candidate hasstrong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, audit, and regulatory requirements, with experience in fast‑paced companies. Startup experience is highly preferred, and experience in construction, contracting, building materials, or marketplace businesses is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and monthly closing.
• Lead the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial statements.
• Prepare and review management reports, financial statements, and reporting packs for leadership, investors, banks, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Own the external audit process end to end, including preparation of audit schedules, coordination with auditors, resolution of audit comments, and timely issuance of audited financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable Saudi laws and requirements, including tax, zakat, VAT, withholding tax, e‑invoicing, accounting standards, and regulatory filings.
• Strengthen internal controls across finance, procurement, payments, collections, revenue recognition, inventory‑related processes, and expense management.
• Build scalable finance processes, policies, approval workflows, and reporting structures suitable for a high‑growth startup.
• Work closely with business, operations, credit, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure financial data is accurate and properly reflected in the accounts.
• Monitor receivables, payables, collections, supplier payments, working capital, and cash reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by providing reliable actuals and clear explanations of financial performance.
• Identify gaps in systems, controls, and processes, then take ownership of fixing them directly.
• Build, manage, and develop the accounting and finance operations team as the company scales.
• Support ERP, accounting system, and finance automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, audit, and compliance requirements.
• Strong technical accounting skills and ability to prepare accurate financial statements.
• Experience owning accounting, audit, and reporting functions end to end.
• Prior experience in a startup, scale‑up, marketplaces, fintech, construction, contracting, or building materials business is highly preferred.
• Experience in construction or a related sector is a strong plus.
• Previous Big 4 experience is a plus.
• Strong Arabic and English communication skills are required.
• Strong command of Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
• High attention to detail, strong ownership, and strong execution mindset.
• Comfortable working directly on the details, not only managing or reviewing others’ work.
• Strong leadership and team management skills
