Job summary

KAUST Safety Specialist role supports implementation of occupational health and safety programs across KAUST facilities, operations, maintenance, construction works and projects. The position emphasizes field inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, safety documentation, contractor engagement, training and corrective action tracking to ensure ISO 45001 compliance and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification required.
• Incident root cause analysis training required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience.
• Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk-based safety programs.
• Experience with high-risk activities and permit-to-work systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 19011, ISO 31000 is a plus.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Safety Lead to implement and maintain risk-based safety programs.
• Conduct risk-based site inspections and safety audits.
• Perform hazard identifications and risk assessments.
• Review risk assessments, method statements, permits-to-work.
• Investigate incidents and identify root causes.
• Track corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
• Provide HSE guidance to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Analyze HSE data and report trends to management.
• Promote ISO 45001 compliance and safety culture.

Education
