Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers Company is seeking an experienced Welding Quality Inspector to oversee comprehensive QC inspections on mechanical welding projects. You will perform visual assessments, ensure adherence to specifications, and coordinate NDT activities to verify weld integrity.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in field QA/QC, a CWI or equivalent certification, and strong ability to read drawings and interpret codes (ASME, API, EN).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive field QA/QC experience for mechanical welding projects.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) by AWS or equivalent international certification.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and relevant international codes (ASME, API, EN).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute mechanical welding QC inspections per project specs and international standards.
• Conduct visual inspections of welds for dimensional accuracy and surface finish; detect defects.
• Perform NDT methods (MPT, DPT, UT, RT) to assess weld integrity.
• Review and approve welding procedures (WPS) and welder qualifications (PQR, WPQ) to meet requirements.

• Oversee and execute comprehensive mechanical welding quality control inspections ensuring adherence to project specifications and international standards.
• Conduct thorough visual inspections of welds, verifying dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and absence of defects.
• Perform Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), Dye‑Penetrant Testing (DPT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT) to assess weld integrity.
• Review and approve welding procedures (WPS) and welder qualifications (PQR, WPQ) to ensure they meet project requirements and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in field quality assurance and control for mechanical welding projects.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent international certification.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and relevant international codes (e.g., ASME, API, EN).
