Job summary

Client of MM Management Consultant seeks a senior QC supervisor to oversee QA/QC at the project site, implementing Project Quality Plans and Procedures per company QC procedures, international standards and contract requirements for construction activities.

The role leads Mechanical and Welding QC Inspectors, reviews method statements, conducts site visits, maintains records, and coordinates with NDT agencies and client inspectors to ensure compliance and proper closure of non-conformities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in supervising QC inspectors and mechanical/piping inspection preferred.
• Knowledge of codes such as ASME, API, AWS; strong documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Mechanical and Welding QC Inspectors.
• Review method statements, procedures, and ITPs.
• Conduct site visits to identify deficiencies and guide crews.
• Coordinate with Welding QC and NDT to assemble records and hydrotest packages.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

To supervise the operation of QA/QC functions at the project site by implementing the Project Quality Plans and Procedures in accordance with the Company QC procedures, international standards, and specific contract requirements for each phase of construction activities and the acceptance criteria of the contract scope of the project.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and supervise the team of Mechanical and welding QC Inspectors for monitoring ongoing daily construction activities.
• Review construction method statements and provide comments consistent with project specifications, procedures, and ITPs.
• Conduct regular site visits to identify potential deficiencies and provide guidance to construction crews and QC Inspectors.
• Coordinate with the QC Supervisor Welding to compile Welding and NDT records in the database, and prepare Hydrotest Packages for the commissioning of completed systems with NDT agencies.
• Ensure the availability of QC Inspectors during all operations.
• Initiate internal Log Book entries and NCRs to the construction crew to enforce the project quality plan, ITPs, written procedures, project specifications, and IFC drawings.
• Coordinate with client inspectors for feedback on open log book entries and prepare corrective actions to close violations.
• Emphasize document and record control by advising document controllers and QC Inspectors.
• Assist the Project QC Manager in organizing a Quality Control Project Inspection Unit for mechanical works, covering the contractual scope.
• Maintain a record of job specifications and acceptance criteria for the items under inspection.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Exercise supervisory capabilities to motivate and train QC Mechanical Inspectors within the team.
• Coordinate with production units and work supervisors to ensure required QC inspections during the work process.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 7 years of experience, with at least 3 years related to mechanical and piping inspection.
• Demonstrated experience in the installation of equipment including pumps, motors, skids, valves, vessels, compressors, fired heaters, auxiliary equipment, and packaged equipment in plant construction.
• Prior Middle East experience is preferred.
• Good command of English communication, both oral and written.

ACADEMIC EDUCATION

Graduate with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

CERTIFICATIONS

• CBT licenses.
• Additional certification in NDT (e.g., ASNT Level II) is preferred.
• ISO 9001 training.

WORK CONDITIONS

Can work with minimal supervision and under pressure.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Age: Minimum 30 years old, maximum 50 years old.
• Driving skills: Yes.
• Physically strong and healthy.
• Thorough working knowledge of codes such as ASME Sections I, V, VIII, IX; ANSI B31.3/4/8; API 620/650; and AWS D1.1 or equivalent standards.
• Competent with piping systems and pipelines, hot tap procedures, hot/cold insulation, vessel, tank, and sphere construction, and structural steel erection.
• Conversant with NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, or UT). Additional certification in NDT (e.g., ASNT Level II) is preferred.
