Job summary

Metalock Engineering Group seeks an On-Site Machinist to perform precision machining at client sites, including refineries and power plants. Responsibilities include operating portable equipment, reading drawings, and welding with TIG to restore critical components.

Role requires 5+ years in field/onsite machining, ability to interpret tolerances, and safety certifications. Work spans shop and customer premises with reporting to the Projects team.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma, Vocational Training, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Machining.
• 3–5 years of experience in field machining, precision machining, or rotating equipment maintenance.
• Experience in refineries, petrochemical plants, power plants, or industrial facilities preferred.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Valid site safety certifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out precision machining at customer facilities, industrial plants, refineries, power stations and construction sites.
• Operate portable machining equipment for repair, modification and restoration of components.
• Read drawings and inspect component/part dimensions and tolerances.
• Weld using TIG in flat and vertical positions.
• Align machines for boring, grinding and milling operations.
• Fabricate components for valves, gears, pumps, compressors as per drawings or samples.
