Job summary

Awafi Clinic is seeking an Engineering Manager to own the team’s delivery and production reliability in a remote, full-time role. The position combines people leadership with hands-on engineering across PHP/Laravel, React/Next.js, Flutter, and cloud infrastructure on GCP with Terraform.

You will set engineering standards, review code, manage cadence, and partner with the Product Manager. The role requires hands-on involvement across multiple codebases while guiding the team toward scalable,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Experience in logistics, freight forwarding or shipping operations preferred.
• Knowledge of shipment documentation and transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with import/export processes and customs documentation advantageous.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused, professional attitude; able to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering team, run one-to-ones, growth plans, performance, onboarding.
• Distribute work to match capability and develop it.
• Owns what the team commits to each cycle and whether it lands.
• Product Manager sets priority; Engineering Manager decides what fits and manages scope.
• Enforce engineering standards: code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and definition of done.
• Set and maintain engineering quality and reliability standards.
• Monitor uptime via alerts, incidents, and blameless postmortems.
• Provide architectural input and manage technical debt with hands-on code review.
• Maintain living documentation and structured onboarding.

Requirements

Experience

5+ years engineering experience, with 2+ managing engineers directly Accountability for production reliability in a previous role: on-call, incident command, postmortems Track record of introducing engineering discipline: code review, CI/CD, test gates, environments Working knowledge of the clinic's stack, PHP/Laravel and React/Next.js in particular, with enough depth to review code and hold a peer conversation with the most senior engineer on the team Comfortable being hands-on across several codebases while still managing the team Clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders Fluent English; Arabic an advantage Nice to have Flutter or other cross-platform mobile, and app release management GCP, Terraform and containerised deployment Multi-codebase or multi-product estates Test automation strategy and QA practice Environments handling sensitive personal data
