Job summary

Awafi Clinic seeks an experienced Engineering Manager in Riyadh to lead the software team, drive development priorities, and ensure reliable delivery across PHP/Laravel and React/Next.js stacks.

You will own engineering discipline, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to balance speed and quality while maintaining robust CI/CD and security practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in people management.
• Accountability for production reliability: on-call, incident command, and postmortems.
• Proven ability to introduce engineering discipline: code reviews, CI/CD, test gates.
• Hands-on proficiency with PHP/Laravel and React/Next.js to review code.
• Comfortable working across multiple codebases while leading a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English; Arabic is a plus.
• Experience with GCP, Terraform, and containerised deployment.
• Experience with multi-codebase or multi-product estates and QA/test automation.
• Handling of sensitive personal data environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team, define growth plans, manage performance, and oversee onboarding.
• Own delivery: align cycles with priorities set by PM and scope decisions by EM.
• Enforce engineering standards: code review, CI/CD, test gates, and environments.
• Manage release process: path to production, branch protection, rollback, quality sign-off.
• Ensure reliability: monitoring, on-call, incident response, blameless postmortems.
• Shape technical direction: collaborate on architecture and debt, review code.
• Maintain documentation and onboarding to avoid knowledge silos.
• Provide reporting on delivery health, risks, and capacity.

Requirements

• 5+ years engineering experience, with 2+ managing engineers directly
• Accountability for production reliability in a previous role: on-call, incident command, postmortems
• Track record of introducing engineering discipline: code review, CI/CD, test gates, environments
• Working knowledge of the clinic's stack, PHP/Laravel and React/Next.js in particular, with enough depth to review code and hold a peer conversation with the most senior engineer on the team
• Comfortable being hands-on across several codebases while still managing the team
• Clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent English; Arabic an advantage
• Nice to have Flutter or other cross-platform mobile, and app release management
• GCP, Terraform and containerised deployment
