Overview
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and supervising structural construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs project specifications contractual requirements and applicable codes and standards The role will support the successful delivery of large-scale building and hospitality developments by ensuring structural integrity construction quality safety and adherence to project schedules
Your role
Construction Supervision
- Inspect structural works including foundations retaining structures concrete works steel structures and building frameworks
- Verify that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved construction methodologies and quality requirements
- Monitor site activities to ensure workmanship meets project specifications and industry standards
- Witness inspections and testing activities related to structural materials and completed works
- Ensure timely identification and resolution of structural construction issues
Technical Review and Coordination
- Review structural shop drawings material submissions and contractor technical proposals for compliance with design intent
- Coordinate with architects MEP engineers quantity surveyors and construction teams to address design and construction interfaces
- Evaluate requests for information technical queries and proposed design modifications related to structural works
- Support review and assessment of value engineering proposals affecting structural systems
- Provide technical recommendations and solutions to site-related structural challenges
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure structural construction activities comply with project quality plans specifications and approved procedures
- Verify the quality of construction materials through review of test reports and inspection records
- Monitor implementation of inspection and test plans for structural works
- Identify non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented and properly closed out
- Support quality audits and compliance reviews related to structural construction activities
Site Inspection and Monitoring
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess construction progress workmanship quality and compliance with approved designs
- Monitor contractor adherence to approved work sequences and construction methodologies
- Verify installation and execution of structural elements prior to concrete pours and subsequent construction activities
- Ensure site records accurately reflect completed structural works and inspection outcomes
- Assist in monitoring construction schedules and reporting progress against project milestones
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with Client representatives contractors consultants and project management teams on structural engineering matters
- Participate in construction progress meetings and technical coordination meetings
- Support the resolution of structural issues raised by contractors and project stakeholders
- Coordinate inspections with quality HSE and testing teams to ensure compliance requirements are achieved
- Maintain effective communication with all project participants regarding structural works progress and performance
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare daily weekly and monthly reports on structural construction progress and compliance activities
- Maintain records of inspections testing results site observations and technical reviews
- Review contractor reports and verify accuracy of structural work progress and quality data
- Document non-conformance reports corrective actions and technical recommendations
- Ensure all structural engineering records are properly maintained and available for project audits and reviews
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering or a related discipline. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is preferred. Professional Engineering registration or equivalent professional accreditation is desirable. Membership in a recognized engineering institution is preferred. Additional certifications related to structural design, construction supervision, or project management are advantageous. Minimum 8-12 years of professional experience in structural engineering and construction supervision. Minimum 5 years of experience on site supervision consultancy projects involving major building developments. Proven experience in large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments. Strong experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, and building structural systems. Previous GCC experience, particularly within Saudi Arabia, is highly desirable. Strong communication and coordination skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
