Job summary

BAE Systems is recruiting an Engine Maintenance Technician to support the RSAF Tornado fleet in Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on engine and aircraft maintenance to ensure serviceability and mission readiness, with compliance to RSAF technical orders and MOE procedures.

Experience in jet engine maintenance, tool control, and case-by-case troubleshooting is essential. The candidate will work with RSAF/Rolls‑Royce teams, managing TQs, DDRs and day‑to‑day engineering tasks on site.

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification at NVQ/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or an equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
  • Substantial post‑qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain good engineering practices and compliance with RSAF Technical Orders and MOE procedures in jet engine and aircraft maintenance.
  • Carry out component maintenance, including inspection, survey, evaluation, installation, repair, troubleshooting, servicing, overhaul, modification and on‑aircraft system testing.
  • Ensure strict tool control and manage spare parts requirements using the GOLDesp logistics system.
  • Provide functional guidance for the SNTTP programs on engineering issues.
  • Conduct TCTOs, special inspections and engine checks using visual aids.
  • Action work orders for unscheduled arisings identified during maintenance, and manage accurate daily work record diaries.
  • Brief all concerned parties on daily progress and any issues affecting maintenance activities.
  • Support the on‑site Rolls‑Royce personnel in raising TQs, DDRs, and related maintenance activities.
  • Maintain personal authorisations for all maintenance activities.
  • Provide line technical support to the RSAF on engineering matters.

Job description

Job Purpose

BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor for providing equipment support and training to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF). The Engine Maintenance Technician will work on the RSAF Tornado fleet, ensuring engines and aircraft remain serviceable and mission‑ready.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain good engineering practices and compliance with RSAF Technical Orders and MOE procedures in jet engine and aircraft maintenance.

Essential Technical and Personal Requirements
  • Recognised qualification at NVQ/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or an equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA.
  • Substantial post‑qualification practical maintenance experience within an operational flying aircraft environment, supported by formal recorded workplace training.
  • Fluent in English and able to communicate tactfully, discreetly and confidently with people at all levels.
  • Quality‑mindful, mature individual who adopts a positive and proactive approach to aircraft maintenance and support issues.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve complex technical issues and in close harmony in a mixed EE/SN workforce.
  • Relevant type training (Q Course) and, if required, specific training in human factors, error management, health and safety and proactive hazard analysis.
  • Saudi or expatriate candidate must obtain Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership at the appropriate level before starting employment in KSA and maintain it throughout the role.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of company processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of EASA Part 145.
  • Broad aerospace and defence industry knowledge.
  • Understanding of the RSAF 4‑1‑7166 series and supporting technical publications.
  • First‑line engine and/or SPS maintenance experience.
