Job Description

Wood is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer Head of Discipline I to support our Projects business in Al Khobar.

Responsibilities
  • Develops design solutions according to requirements, to deliver products, equipment, materials, etc. of the highest standard.
  • Directs scheduling, cost control and technical conformance during design phase of projects.
  • Coordinates activities with other groups and clients.
  • Continuous promotion of, and adherence to, the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participates in incident investigations as required.
  • Establishes design constraints and prepares engineering development proposals and feasibility studies.
  • May develop new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Plans and carries out assigned projects, resolves most conflicts, coordinates work with others and interprets policy on own initiative.
  • Reviews technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems.
  • Solves difficult technical problems and provides expert guidance.
  • Leads design reviews and tracks metrics indicating progress against plan.
  • Advises functional leaders using deep professional knowledge and acumen.
  • Works with project groups as an expert technical advisor on designs, processes and engineering methods.
  • Solves problems requiring application of research data and exercises mature business judgment to devise practical, economical solutions.
  • Represents discipline on contract/project/service line and performs the role of Technical Authority when appointed.
  • Supports the introduction of innovation, new ideas and practices to improve overall performance.
  • Contributes to business development through regular engagement and relationship building with clients, and identifies opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood.
  • Represents the company as a thought leader at conferences and other public events.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring for less experienced staff and supervises tasks delegated to direct reports.
  • Manages stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
  • Directs work assignments, scheduling, and reviews of work in progress.
  • In consultancy areas, may manage a portfolio of small projects with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk.
  • Supervises delivery of subcontracted design engineering and provides appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum), Level 7 Masters (preferred) or Level 8 Doctorate (desirable) Degree in engineering discipline; alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence.
  • Chartership or relevant professional license/registration preferred.

  • Typically requires extensive experience and accomplishments resulting in recognition as a technical expert in a particular field.
  • Supervisory experience and understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety.

  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory framework and legislation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with industry and technology development within discipline.
  • Pursue continual professional development and maintain own skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation.
  • Proficient in scope definition and understanding of Wood Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services.
