Job summary

TÜV SÜD for Safety Engineering LLC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a qualified Safety Engineer to perform testing and evaluation of amusement rides, with focus on functional safety and compliance with ISO 13849 and IEC 62061.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in electrical/automation/mechatronics engineering, at least three years' experience, and practical knowledge of PLCs, hydraulics and pneumatics. This is a full-time, on-site position in a field-work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in electrical, automation or mechatronics engineering or equivalent.
  • At least three years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge in the evaluation of risk assessments (ISO 12100).
  • Knowledge about programmable logic controllers (PLC).
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Interdisciplinary approach.
  • Functional safety engineer – ISO 13849.
  • Knowledge about failsafe programmable logic controllers.
  • Other foreign language.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and examination of amusement rides for compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Evaluation and assessment of technical documents regarding functional and electrical safety.
  • Comprehensive testing of hardware and software for safety-relevant control systems.
  • Assessment and evaluation of risk analyses (ISO 13849, IEC 62061).
  • Independent thorough examinations on rides and simulators and evaluating deviations from standards.
  • Acceptance tests on complex systems with regard to electrical installation and functional safety.
  • Use of complex measurement methods to evaluate system characteristics.
  • Comprehensive assessments of complex rides and devices with interdisciplinary context.
  • Evaluate and test interfaces (pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics) in teamwork.
  • Develop evaluation criteria for assessment and conceptual design of systems and facilities.
  • Work based on rules and regulations of different disciplines.
  • Drawing up specifications according to the state of the art.
  • Incident and accident investigations.

Job description

  • Testing and examination of all types of amusement rides, from standard designs to pro-totypes and new constructions, including roller coasters, carousels, tower rides and other amusement park or traveling rides for compliance with relevant rules and regulations
  • Evaluation and assessment of technical documents with regard to functional and electri-cal safety
  • Comprehensive testing of hardware and software for the safety-relevant part of control systems for rides with complex systems
  • Assessment and evaluation of risk analyses according to ISO 13849 and IEC 62061
  • Carrying out independent thorough examinations on e.g. roundabouts, roller coasters and simulators as well as evaluating any deviations found in compliance with current stand-ards
  • Acceptance tests on complex systems with regard to electrical installation and functional safety
  • Competent use of complex measurement methods to evaluate the system characteristics (Loop impedance, insulation, RCD tripping etc.)
  • Comprehensive assessments of complex rides and devices, based on broad knowledge of relevant, interdisciplinary contexts
  • Evaluate and test interfaces (pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, etc.) and functions in teamwork
  • Tasks with additionally developed evaluation criteria for the assessment and / or concep-tual design of systems and facilities
