Job summary

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group in Jeddah is seeking a CSSD technician to perform routine sterilization and decontamination tasks in line with JCIA/CBAHI standards. The role requires handling contaminated items, packaging, labeling, and daily sterilizer testing, with a focus on asepsis and infection control.

Education includes a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus at least 1 year of CSSD experience. Valid BLS or equivalent certifications and Saudi licensing from the country of origin are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year working experience in CSSD.
• BLS or relevant certifications.
• Saudi Council licensed from country of origin.

Responsibilities

• Receive all used contaminated items from assigned areas.
• Decontaminate items manually and mechanically using ultrasonic cleaner and washers.
• Label prepared packages with proper labeling.
• Load and unload sterilizers correctly.
• Adhere to infection control with PPE.
• Assemble and pack instrument sets with proper packaging.
• Follow asepsis principles in all processing stages.
• Store sterilized sets until needed.
• Perform daily sterilizer tests (Bowie & Dick, Spore & leak tests).
• Participate in education and training sessions.
• Assist supervisor and monitor staff performance.

Job Summary:

Responsible for routine and basic technical tasks in CSSD with strict adherence to JCIA/ CBAHI Standards including documentation, sterilization, packaging, storage and distribution of sterile items as well as receiving all contaminated used items from the assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

• Receive all used contaminated items from different assigned areas.
• Decontaminate the received items manually and mechanically by using ultrasonic cleaner/ automated cart washers.
• Label the prepared package using proper labeling technique.
• Load and unloading sterilizers properly.
• Adhere to infection control requirements by using PPE.
• Assembles and packing instrument-sets using proper packaging material and technique.
• Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of asepsis principles in all stages of processing.
• Store the sterilized sets/ items properly until needed.
• Demonstrate an understanding of quality control by using chemical indicator.
• Perform disinfecting process as needed and as per the policy and procedure.
• Transport and delivering the sterile packages to the units in proper way.
• Perform the daily testing of sterilizer (warm-up cycle, Bowie and Dick test, Spore test and leak test).
• Perform all delegated tasks assigned by the Supervisor with scope of competency.
• Adhere to JCIA / CBAHI Standards.
• Participate in conducting education and training sessions.
• Reports any unusual incident, missing, broken, damaged and out of order machine, instruments to immediate supervisor.
• Acts up for CSSD Supervisor during absence.
• Assists Supervisor in evaluating and monitoring staff performance.
• Demonstrate ability to handle and operate the following machine/ equipment:
• Ultrasonic Machine
• B.I. Incubator
• Washer Disinfector
• Sealing Device
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education/ Professional Qualification / Experience :

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Minimum of at least 1 year working experience in same specialty

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training :

• BLS, or relevant certifications
• Valid Saudi Council & Licensed from Country of origin
