Overview
The Configuration Engineer is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing the configuration and integration of telecom and network equipment in alignment with operator standards (STC, Zain, Salam, etc.). This role ensures that the correct hardware and software configurations are deployed, tested, optimized, and documented for seamless service delivery.

Responsibilities
- Configure and integrate telecom network elements (RAN, Core, Transmission, IP/MPLS).
- Prepare, upload, and validate configuration scripts for 2G/3G/4G LTE and 5G NR networks.
- Perform MW (Microwave) and Fiber transmission link configuration, testing, and acceptance.
- Support network rollout teams during site integration and commissioning phases.
- Troubleshoot configuration and performance issues during integration.
- Ensure compliance with STC, Zain standards and vendor guidelines (Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE).
- Maintain version control and configuration records (baseline, upgrades, rollback plans).
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and NOC teams for end-to-end delivery.
- Document procedures, configurations, and acceptance test results.
- Follow IT/Telecom change management processes (RFCs, approvals, audits).
Required Technical Skills (Saudi Market Focus)
Core Network & RAN
- 2G / 3G / 4G LTE, and working knowledge of 5G NR.
- RAN parameter configuration (cell definitions, neighbor relations, carrier settings).
- Experience in OSS/BSS systems for configuration management.
- Hands-on with vendor tools (Huawei U2020, Ericsson ENM, Nokia NetAct).
Transmission & IP Networking
- Microwave link configuration (Ericsson Minilink, Huawei RTN, Nokia MW).
- Transmission technologies: PDH, SDH, Ethernet/IP, MPLS.
- Fiber and DWDM system basics.
- Routing & Switching (Cisco, Huawei, Juniper – CCNA/HCIA-level knowledge).
Testing & Tools
- Proficiency with network configuration scripts (XML, MML, CLI).
- Familiarity with site acceptance tools and troubleshooting (Site Master, OTDR).
- Knowledge of KPI monitoring, performance counters, and integration tests.
Compliance & Standards
- Familiarity with CITC telecom regulations in Saudi Arabia.
- Adherence to ISO/ITIL change and configuration management processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in telecom configuration/integration (operator or vendor projects).
- Experience with CISCO, Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, or ZTE equipment is essential.
- Vendor certifications preferred (Huawei HCIA/HCIP, Ericsson Certified Associate, Nokia NFM).
- Networking certifications (CCNA/HCIA/Juniper JNCIA) are a strong plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Analytical thinking and structured troubleshooting approach.
- Excellent communication (English; Arabic is a plus).
- Ability to work in high-pressure rollout environments.
- Team collaboration across multi-vendor projects.
