Job summary

Dar Al Riyadh Group is seeking a senior inspector to oversee daily on-site civil and structural activities for a five-star hotel renovation. You will review drawings, specs and method statements, witness tests, and ensure strict quality control and safe execution on complex structural work.

The role requires 12+ years in on-site inspection, a Civil Engineering qualification, and valid Saudi Council of Engineers registration. Proficiency in English is preferred; Arabic is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of on-site civil and structural inspection experience.
• Registration with Saudi Council of Engineers in Technician or Engineering category is mandatory.
• Experience in high-rise buildings, renovations, or rehabilitation projects.
• Knowledge of Saudi Building Code and ASTM/BS standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of civil and structural works for renovation of a high-rise, five-star hotel.
• Inspect selective demolition, propping, concrete chipping, reinforcement prep, and structural repairs.
• Review and respond to civil/structural Requests for Inspection.
• Inspect formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, concrete placement, curing, and finished concrete works.
• Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, method statements, and Saudi Building Code.
• Witness concrete sampling, cube testing, core extraction, pull-off testing, and other tests.
• Inspect concrete repairs, crack injection, grout, repair mortars, CFRP bonding, strengthening.
• Inspect waterproofing surface prep, membrane installation, protection layers, and flood testing.
• Verify materials are stored, handled and installed correctly; report defects.
• Coordinate inspections with contractor reps, surveyors and independent labs.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, photographs, results and site observations.
• Record manpower, equipment, locations, progress, and site constraints.
• Assist with snagging, de-snagging, as-built verification and final handover inspections.

• Inspect selective demolition, temporary propping, concrete chipping, reinforcement preparation, and structural repair works.
• Review and respond to civil and structural Requests for Inspection.
• Inspect formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, concrete placement, curing, and finished concrete works.
• Verify that civil works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and the Saudi Building Code.
• Witness concrete sampling, cube testing, core extraction, pull-off testing, and other destructive and non-destructive tests.
• Inspect concrete repairs, crack injection, grout application, repair mortars, CFRP bonding, and structural strengthening works.
• Inspect below-grade, roof, bathroom, kitchen, and wet-area waterproofing.
• Verify waterproofing surface preparation, membrane installation, protection layers, and flood testing.
• Confirm that approved materials are used and properly stored, handled, and installed.
• Identify defective or non-compliant work and immediately report it to the Civil/Structural Engineer.
• Monitor corrective actions and reinspect completed rectification works.
• Coordinate inspections with contractor representatives, surveyors, and independent testing laboratories.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, photographic records, test results, and site observations.
• Record contractor manpower, equipment, work locations, progress, and site constraints.
• Assist with snagging, de-snagging, as-built verification, and final handover inspections.
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers registration in the applicable Technician or Engineering category is mandatory.
• Minimum 12 years of on-site civil and structural inspection experience.
• Proven experience in high-rise buildings, major renovations, or structural rehabilitation projects.
• Practical experience in selective demolition, concrete repair, reinforcement works, structural strengthening, and temporary propping.
• Experience inspecting CFRP systems, grout injection, repair mortars, and waterproofing works.
• Strong knowledge of concrete placement, testing, curing, repair, and quality-control procedures.
• Familiarity with the Saudi Building Code and relevant ASTM and British Standards.
• Ability to interpret civil and structural drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection plans.
• Previous experience working with an engineering consultancy or construction supervision consultant.
• Ability to prepare accurate inspection reports, site records, and photographic documentation.
• Experience coordinating with independent testing laboratories and witnessing construction-material tests.
• Experience in Madinah Central Area or similarly congested and sensitive locations is preferred.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing certification or an equivalent inspection qualification is preferred.
• Good written and spoken English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
