Job summary

WSP in the Middle East seeks an Associate Director / Associate - Structural Engineering to lead the Jeddah office, coordinating structural design and delivery of major building projects. The role blends technical excellence with commercial acumen, client engagement, and business development to strengthen relationships and drive growth across the Kingdom.

You will mentor engineers, oversee BIM workflows, review calculations and drawings, and ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 18+ years of experience in structural engineering, delivering major building projects.
• Strong client-facing experience and stakeholder management.
• Proven business development, bid/winning new work, and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key client contact, building and maintaining relationships with clients.
• Support business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, and bid submissions.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director / Associate - Structural Engineering to grow our Structural Engineering team in Jeddah. This is a key position responsible for coordinating the local structural design office, managing the delivery of major building projects, strengthening client relationships, and driving business growth across the Kingdom.

The successful candidate will combine exceptional technical expertise with strong commercial awareness, business development capability, and the ability to confidently represent the business with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Support business development activities, including client meetings, networking, proposal preparation, presentations, and bid submissions.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and secure new project opportunities.
• Contribute to commercial discussions, fee proposals, scope definition, and contract negotiations.
• Lead the structural delivery of complex building projects, ensuring quality, technical excellence, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Provide practical technical guidance to project teams and support the resolution of engineering and project delivery challenges.
• Review and oversee structural calculations, reports, drawings, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate structural engineering resources within the Jeddah office to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, and deliverables to meet client expectations.
• Promote innovation, digital delivery, and best practice across structural engineering and BIM workflows.
• Mentor and support engineers within the team, encouraging technical development and knowledge sharing.
• Represent the business in client meetings, workshops, and industry events.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• 18+ years of experience in structural engineering, including the delivery of major building projects.
• Strong experience working directly with clients and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated involvement in business development, proposal preparation, and winning new work.
• Proven ability to manage project delivery while balancing technical, commercial, and client expectations.
• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, steel, and complex building structures.
• Experience resolving technical and design-related challenges on multidisciplinary projects.
• Extensive knowledge of Saudi, regional, and international design codes and standards.
• Proficiency in structural analysis, design software, and BIM platforms.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to support the growth of the business.
