Job summary

WSP in the Middle East seeks an Associate/Associate Director – Bridges & Tunnels to lead the design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects across Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on technical excellence, client management, and regional business growth, based in Riyadh or Jeddah.

The successful candidate will provide strategic project leadership, oversee delivery from concept to detailed design, and mentor a growing team while ensuring compliance with local and international standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, PE, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in bridges/tunnels design, with at least 5 in a senior/leadership role.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in KSA and a proven BD/work-winning track record.
  • Experience with international engineering consultancies on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of local Saudi regulations and codes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects across Saudi Arabia.
  • Serve as primary client contact, identifying opportunities and managing relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership to design teams and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Oversee planning, resourcing, budgeting, and quality control across projects.
  • Coordinate with geotechnical, highway, railway and MEP teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a high-performance culture.
  • Represent the consultancy in industry forums and client meetings.

Job Description

WSP is seeking a highly experienced Associate/Associate Director – Bridges & Tunnels to join our client’s growing Transport & Infrastructure division based in Riyadh or Jeddah. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects across Saudi Arabia, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and adherence to international standards. The role includes strategic project leadership, client management, and team development while supporting business growth in the region.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients in Saudi Arabia, building strong relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Lead business development in the bridges and tunnels market in KSA and support wider business development activities, including preparation of technical proposals and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Provide technical leadership to the design team, ensuring compliance with local and international codes and standards.
  • Lead the design management and technical delivery of complex bridge and tunnel infrastructure projects from concept to detailed design stages.
  • Oversee project planning, resourcing, budgeting, and quality control across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, highway, railway and MEP specialists.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Represent the consultancy in industry forums and client meetings, promoting technical excellence and thought leadership.
Qualifications

  • Proven track record of business development, work winning, and building strong client relationships.
  • Proven track record of working within international engineering consultancies on large‑scale infrastructure design projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant design software (e.g., Midas, RM Bridge, SOFiSTiK, LUSAS, PLAXIS, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of local Saudi regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client‑facing skills.
