WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Data Centre Construction Manager to lead the delivery of a major mission-critical data centre project in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will oversee all on-site construction activities across Civil, Structural, Architectural, MEP, ICT, ELV, and associated infrastructure works, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, programme, and cost control.
This is a site-based supervision role, focused on overseeing construction delivery, ensuring quality, compliance, and coordination of all MEP systems from mobilisation through commissioning and handover. This is a full-time site-based role, with the project located approximately 80 km from Riyadh. Regular on-site presence is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the construction delivery of a large-scale Data Centre project with approximately 50MW IT Load Capacity.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary construction teams covering Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, ICT and ELV disciplines.
- Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Drive site operations in line with project programme, budget, quality and safety objectives.
- Review construction methodologies, site logistics, work sequencing and resource planning.
Project Controls & Reporting
- Prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, productivity and key performance indicators.
- Identify risks, mitigation measures and recovery strategies.
- Provide regular progress updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and manage large multidisciplinary site teams.
- Coordinate activities across all construction disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
- Mentor and develop site engineers, supervisors and construction personnel.
Procurement & Material Management
- Support procurement planning and construction package reviews.
- Coordinate with procurement teams on critical equipment and long-lead items.
- Review material submittals, technical submissions and shop drawings.
- Ensure timely approval and delivery of materials required for construction activities.
Design & Technical Interface
- Work closely with design teams to resolve technical and design-related issues.
- Participate in design reviews and constructability workshops.
- Provide construction input during design development and implementation phases.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost, programme and constructability.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee testing and commissioning activities across all systems including Mechanical, Electrical, ICT and ELV.
- Coordinate integrated systems testing and commissioning programmes.
- Ensure all systems are commissioned in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.
- Manage punch lists, defect resolution and final handover processes.
- Work closely with commissioning managers, specialist vendors and operations teams.
Quality, HSE & Compliance
- Champion a strong Health, Safety and Environmental culture across the project.
- Ensure compliance with project quality standards, HSE requirements and local regulations.
- Lead quality inspections, audits and corrective action programmes.
- Promote best practices across all construction activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15+ years of construction management experience.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale Data Centre, Mission Critical or Complex Infrastructure Projects.
- Strong experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams across Civil, Structural, MEP, ICT and ELV works.
- Demonstrated experience in testing, commissioning and project handover.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.
- Experience working on remote project sites and fast-paced construction environments.
