Job Summary
The Assistant Manager – Materials is responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement, storage, distribution, and inventory control of materials and equipment required for oil, gas, and energy operations. The role ensures efficient supply chain management, cost optimization, compliance with safety standards, and timely availability of materials to support operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the procurement, receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and equipment.
- Develop and maintain inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and reduce wastage.
- Monitor material usage and prepare reports on inventory status, consumption trends, and forecast requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and adherence to quality standards.
- Implement and enforce safety, environmental, and quality standards in material handling and storage.
- Support budget planning and cost control initiatives for material procurement and inventory management.
- Collaborate with project and maintenance teams to ensure materials meet operational requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of material coordinators and warehouse staff, ensuring high performance and compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of material transactions, stock levels, and audit trails.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain efficiency and material management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certification in supply chain, procurement, or materials management is a plus.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in materials management, preferably in oil, gas, or energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, procurement processes, and warehouse management systems.
- Familiarity with Saudi regulatory standards and safety requirements in the energy industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and MS Office.
