SAUDI ARABIAN RESOURCES COMPANY is seeking an Assistant Driller to support rig operations and safety compliance at remote exploration sites. The role focuses on assisting the Driller in precise drilling, equipment management, and daily reporting.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, safety protocol enforcement, sample handling, crew supervision, and logistics coordination to ensure continuous operations and adherence to Saudi regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical certificate in mechanical or drilling disciplines.
• At least three years of hands-on experience in exploration or water well drilling.
• Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and diesel systems.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards and risk assessment methodologies in drilling.
• Physical capability to lift heavy objects and work in extreme weather conditions.
• Valid Saudi driving license with off-road driving experience.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic for effective team communication.
• Ability to work rotational shifts in remote camp-based locations.
• Experience with reverse circulation and diamond core drilling methods.
• Previous employment with recognized mining or drilling contractors in Saudi Arabia.
• Certification in first aid, firefighting, and H2S awareness.
• Familiarity with digital logging tools and GPS navigation systems.

• Handle drill cuttings and core samples with accurate labeling and secure storage.
• Direct roustabouts in safe handling of pipes and heavy materials; provide on-the-job training.
• Maintain detailed daily logs of drilling progress, fuel consumption and maintenance.
• Coordinate with camp staff to ensure adequate supplies of water, fuel and drilling mud.
• Participate in emergency drills and ensure emergency equipment is accessible.
• Monitor drilling activities to prevent spills and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Provide comprehensive shift handover briefings to incoming crew.

Job description

The Assistant Driller is responsible for the following key areas of operational support and safety compliance

Rig Operation Assistance

The role assists the Driller in the precise control of drilling equipment to achieve target depths and angles This includes managing the drawworks rotary table and mud pumps during active drilling phases

Preventive Maintenance Execution

This position performs daily inspections and lubrication of engines hydraulics and structural components The Assistant Driller identifies wear and tear early to prevent equipment failure during shifts

Safety Protocol Enforcement

The role ensures that all crew members follow permit-to-work and lockout tagout procedures strictly It involves leading by example in the use of personal protective equipment and hazard mitigation

Sample Integrity Management

The Assistant Driller handles drill cuttings and core samples to prevent contamination or loss Accurate labeling and secure storage of samples are maintained to support geological analysis

Crew Supervision and Training

This position directs roustabouts in the safe handling of pipes and heavy materials on the rig floor It includes providing on-the-job training to new hires regarding basic rig operations

Operational Reporting

The role maintains detailed daily logs of drilling progress fuel consumption and maintenance activities These records are submitted to the Exploration Manager for operational review

Site Logistics Coordination

The Assistant Driller coordinates with camp staff to ensure adequate supplies of water fuel and drilling mud This ensures uninterrupted operations in remote exploration sites

Emergency Response Participation

This position actively participates in emergency drills and responds to incidents according to site protocols The role ensures that emergency equipment is always accessible and functional

Environmental Compliance

The role monitors drilling activities to prevent spills and ensure proper waste disposal It adheres to environmental permits and regulations set by relevant Saudi authorities

Shift Handover Management

The Assistant Driller provides comprehensive briefings to the incoming shift regarding rig status and ongoing tasks This ensures continuity of operations and safety awareness across shifts

Success Metrics

• Zero lost-time injuries or environmental incidents during the evaluation period
• Equipment downtime reduced by 10 through proactive maintenance interventions
• 101 accuracy in sample labeling and chain of custody documentation
• Completion of all assigned technical training and certification modules
• Positive feedback from the Driller regarding operational support and reliability
• Effective supervision of roustabouts with no safety violations observed
