Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to join a leading energy organisation in a key commercial role focused on short-term LNG sales. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in a dynamic global market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Steward short-term contracts with designated customers, representing the organisation in a professional manner and fostering excellent customer relationships.
  • Analyse market trends from interactions and regulatory developments, reporting insights to the Assistant Manager.
  • Develop innovative and complex negotiation tactics aligned with approved strategy to maximise value for stakeholders and the State.
  • Lead complex negotiations involving multi-functional teams in direct customer meetings, aiming to secure new MSPAs and confirmation notices that deliver the best market value, highest flexibility, highest netback, and maximum shareholder and State value.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned short-term contracts, ensuring sanctity, adherence to procedures, processes, and controls informed by experience and lessons learned.
  • Liaise with Commercial & Sales, Finance, Legal, and other support functions to facilitate efficient development and implementation of new MSPAs, providing recommendations on any deviations from standard terms.
  • Support the Division Manager – Short Term Sales in developing marketing plans and proposals for short-term LNG sales, securing management endorsement as required.
  • Contribute to and support the implementation of the approved marketing strategy to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate with the Short Term Sales team to ensure a consistent and value-enhancing customer approach in line with core marketing principles.

Decision-Making Authority: As defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/or approved budget.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance).
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in marketing and business development within the hydrocarbon industry.
  • Strong industry knowledge of LNG sales contract types, including Heads of Agreement, term sheets, confidentiality agreements, MSPAs, and Sales and Purchase Agreements (both FOB and Ex-Ship).
Technical and Business Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship management skills.
  • Outstanding communication abilities, including preparing structured presentations for senior management.
  • Strong business development capabilities.
  • Robust commercial, analytical, and evaluative skills, with the ability to clearly communicate requirements to team members.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple challenging deadlines.
  • Comfort working in an unstructured, fast-paced environment where objectives are defined but success demands skilful interpretation, analysis, and judgement.
