Job summary

NES Fircroft in Qatar is seeking a Risk & Lessons Learned Manager to support the Project Manager and project team in implementing, coordinating, and monitoring all risk management activities across engineering and construction projects.

You will develop and maintain the Risk Management Plan, Risk Register, and Lessons Learned Register, facilitate workshops, chair risk reviews, and ensure timely closure of mitigation actions, reporting to Interface Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Proven project risk management experience.

Job Description: Risk & Lessons Learned Manager

Job Summary

The Risk & Lessons Learned Manager supports the Project Manager and project team in implementing, coordinating, and monitoring all project risk management activities. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining the Risk Management Plan, Risk Register, and Lessons Learned Register while ensuring effective identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting of project risks. The position facilitates risk reviews, lessons learned workshops, and stakeholder engagement to promote proactive risk management and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle. The Risk & Lessons Learned Manager also works closely with risk owners to ensure timely implementation and closure of mitigation actions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and oversee risk management activities throughout the full lifecycle of engineering and construction projects, including risk identification, assessment, monitoring, mitigation, and reporting.
2. Develop, implement, and periodically update the Project Risk Management Plan, Risk Register, and Lessons Learned Register in alignment with project requirements and industry best practices.
3. Define and manage workflows for risk and lessons learned processes within the project management or interface management system.
4. Facilitate risk identification workshops, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and lessons learned sessions with project stakeholders.
5. Organize and chair monthly risk review meetings, quarterly lessons learned reviews, and other risk-related meetings with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date Risk and Lessons Learned Registers, ensuring clear assignment of risk owners, mitigation actions, target dates, and status tracking.
7. Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and ensure timely closure of risk-related action items.
8. Coordinate, document, and track stakeholder comments, action items, and resolutions arising from project reviews, meetings, and workshops.
9. Support interface management activities and ensure integration of risk management processes across project functions.
10. Prepare periodic risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for project management and key stakeholders.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by project management.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in project risk management within engineering, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, or construction projects.
• Hands-on experience facilitating risk and engineering workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, constructability reviews, and lessons learned sessions.
• Strong knowledge of project risk management methodologies, tools, and best practices across the project lifecycle.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and third-party specialists.
• Experience working under various contracting models and developing proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding project deadlines.
