Job description

The Risk Management Coordinator sits within the Project Control function and is responsible for coordinating the end-to-end risk management process on the project(s) — identification, qualitative and quantitative assessment, response planning, and reporting. The role works hand-in-hand with Planning/Scheduling, Cost Control, and Change Management to ensure risks are properly reflected in the project schedule, cost forecast, and contingency, and that the project team acts on them in good time rather than simply recording them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate the identification of project risks across all phases (tender, mobilisation, execution, close-out) through structured workshops, interviews, and reviews with the Project Manager, discipline leads, and package/site teams.
  • Maintain and continuously update the project Risk Register, ensuring each risk has a clear description, category, owner, cause, and consequence.
  • Screen contractual, commercial, technical, HSSE, schedule, and interface risks arising from contract documents, scope changes, and site conditions.
  • Coordinate qualitative risk assessment (probability/impact scoring) in line with the project's Risk Management Plan and risk matrix, and support quantitative risk analysis (QRA) where required, including schedule risk analysis (SRA) and cost risk analysis (Monte Carlo simulation).
  • Support determination and periodic review of schedule and cost contingency based on quantified risk exposure, in coordination with Planning and Cost Control.
  • Track risk exposure trends over time and highlight material changes in the project's risk profile to the Project Control Manager and Project Manager.
  • Work with risk owners to develop, agree, and track risk response and mitigation action plans (avoid, reduce, transfer, accept) with clear owners and target dates.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented mitigation measures and reassess residual risk following action close-out.
  • Escalate overdue or ineffective mitigation actions and unmanaged high/critical risks to the Project Control Manager and project leadership.
Integration with Project Controls
  • Work closely with Planning/Scheduling, Cost Control, and Change Management to ensure risks are reflected consistently in the project schedule, cost forecast, and change register, avoiding duplication or gaps between processes.
  • Support the change management process by flagging risk-driven change events and quantifying their potential cost/schedule impact.
  • Contribute risk-adjusted inputs to project progress reports, forecasts, and contingency drawdown curves.
Reviews, Workshops & Reporting
  • Plan and facilitate periodic risk review workshops and risk register updates with the project team, client, and (where relevant) subcontractors.
  • Maintain and, where needed, help develop the project Risk Management Plan, procedures, and risk matrix in line with GAC Group and client/contract requirements.
  • Administer risk management tools/software (e.g. risk register databases, @RISK, Primavera Risk Analysis, or equivalent) and ensure data integrity and version control.
  • Capture lessons learned on risk management and feed them into future bids, projects, and process improvements.
