Job summary

Saba Intellectual Property in Doha seeks an IP legal professional to support client matters involving intellectual property rights, including trademark clearance, enforcement, and registrations. You will advise clients, prepare documents, and coordinate with external lawyers on litigation as needed.

The role involves drafting licensing and assignment agreements, managing hearings, and producing client updates. Working with customs authorities and providing translations may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience, preferably in the field of intellectual property or a related area.

Responsibilities

• Provides support in handling legal matters related to intellectual property rights of the company’s clients.
• Assists clients with queries related to legal matters concerning intellectual property rights.
• Manages trademark opposition and counterstatement cases, including legal assessment, client advisory, claim and defense preparation, and representation at hearings.
• Conducts trademark clearance work, including common law searches, drafting clearance reports, and preparing client advisories.
• Handles intellectual property enforcement matters, including customs recordals and actions, anti-counterfeiting measures, investigations, evidence gathering, and reporting enforcement activities to clients.
• Prepares and pursues administrative complaints relating to trademark infringement, counterfeiting, unfair competition, and other intellectual property rights violations, while coordinating with customs authorities and other relevant governmental agencies.
• Coordinates with external lawyers to handle litigation and court cases, ensuring appropriate follow-up and case management.
• Drafts and reviews various intellectual property-related agreements and contracts, including licensing, franchising, assignment, and joint venture agreements.
• Drafts enforcement-related legal documents and submissions in connection with intellectual property disputes and enforcement proceedings.
• Prepares daily correspondence, reports, and legal updates for clients.
• Provides translation services for legal and intellectual property-related documents as needed.
• Participates in intellectual property rights training, awareness programs, and client outreach initiatives relating to brand protection and enforcement strategies.
• Prepares annual audit reports for clients regarding legal matters handled by the company.
