We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our Projects Team and support the successful delivery of restaurant development and fit-out projects. The role will support the end-to-end development of restaurants, from an empty shell-and-core unit through construction, interior fit-out, MEP installation, kitchen and equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover to Operations. The successful candidate will work closely with Design, Engineering, Contractors, Consultants, Procurement, Operations, IT, Marketing, Finance, landlords, and government authorities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with approved design and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and delivering restaurant construction and fit-out projects.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, trackers, action plans, and progress reports.
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, suppliers, designers, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor site progress, identify potential delays, and ensure timely corrective actions.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, quality, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate civil, architectural, structural, MEP, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire & life safety, and other building services.
- Oversee interior fit-out works including flooring, ceilings, painting, joinery, countertops, furniture, glazing, wall finishes, decorative elements, signage, and back-of-house areas.
- Coordinate kitchen equipment layouts, MEP provisions, delivery, installation, connection, testing, and commissioning.
- Liaise with architects, interior designers, MEP consultants, kitchen consultants, and other specialists to resolve design and technical issues.
- Review drawings, shop drawings, material submissions, RFIs, and technical documentation to ensure the latest approved information is implemented on site.
- Coordinate required permits, inspections, and approvals with Civil Defence, Municipality, MOCI, Kahramaa, landlords/building management, and other relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with Procurement and suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are available in line with project requirements and timelines.
- Monitor long-lead items and follow up on potential procurement and delivery delays.
- Support the Project Manager in reviewing quotations, variations, additional works, and cost implications.
- Maintain snagging and punch-list records and ensure timely closure of defects.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning of MEP, kitchen, IT, security, signage, and other systems.
- Ensure all required as-built drawings, warranties, certificates, manuals, and test reports are collected before handover.
- Support the Project Manager during restaurant opening and post-opening defect rectification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in construction, interior fit-out, hospitality, retail, or restaurant development.
- Strong experience in restaurant/F&B fit-out and development projects is highly preferred.
- Proven experience coordinating contractors, consultants, suppliers, and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of civil, architectural, MEP, HVAC, kitchen equipment, and interior fit-out works.
- Good knowledge of construction drawings, BOQs, specifications, project schedules, and site execution.
- Experience with Primavera P6 is highly preferred, particularly within Qatar/GCC construction environments.
- MS Project is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Auto CAD and MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of Qatar/GCC construction practices and authority approval processes is an advantage.
- Good understanding of restaurant kitchen layouts, equipment requirements, MEP services, exhaust, ventilation, and related systems.
