Job description

The Project Engineer is the hands-on delivery lead for internally managed projects across Place Vendome. The role converts operational needs into defined scopes, coordinated designs, executable work programmes and completed works, with particular emphasis on live-site investigation, stakeholder coordination, field supervision, change control and close-out.

The initial focus will include major external traffic-flow, access, parking and internal vehicle-routing initiatives, together with associated wayfinding and signage reorganization. AutoCAD production and stewardship of the Place Vendome (PVQ) drawing archive are essential supporting duties, while the primary accountability remains successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Delivery
  • Take assigned projects from brief through feasibility, design, procurement, implementation, testing, handover and close-out.
  • Prepare clear project briefs, scopes of work, deliverables, responsibility matrices, programmes, budgets, risk registers and approval schedules.
  • Own day-to-day coordination and maintain current action, decision, risk, change and issue logs; elevate material concerns early with practical recommendations.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal departments; chair project meetings and issue concise minutes with named owners and due dates.
  • Support tendering through site information, technical packages, bidder clarifications and technical evaluations; monitor commitments, variations and progress against approved scope and budget.
  • Verify completed work on site, manage snagging and ensure warranties, approvals, handover files and as-built information are complete before closure.
2. Traffic, Parking, Circulation and Signage
  • Lead field surveys and site observations covering vehicle routes, entrances and exits, queues, conflict points, pedestrian interfaces, loading, taxi and valet operations, emergency access and peak-period conditions.
  • Coordinate traffic studies and translate findings into workable external road, access, parking and internal vehicle-routing proposals for stakeholder review.
  • Develop phased implementation and temporary traffic-management plans that protect customer access, mall operations, emergency routes and business continuity.
  • Create and maintain coordinated sign-location plans, message schedules and wayfinding packages aligned with approved traffic changes and PVQ brand standards.
  • Conduct field checks, measurements, photo records, mock-up reviews and post-implementation observations; correct discrepancies between drawings and actual conditions.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Security, HSE, Facilities, Marketing/Branding, Leasing, valet teams, consultants and relevant authorities.
3. Design Coordination and Technical Assurance
  • Review architectural, civil, structural, MEP, life-safety, parking, traffic and signage information for completeness, coordination, buildability and operational impact.
  • Challenge designs against verified site conditions and identify missing information or practical constraints before work reaches site.
  • Prepare marked-up drawings, sketches, technical details, quantities and presentation material to communicate requirements and support approvals.
  • Ensure proposed works address applicable codes, HSE requirements, accessibility, fire and life safety, mall standards, permits and authority requirements.
  • Plan work in occupied areas with appropriate permits, isolations, logistics, protection, housekeeping and reinstatement controls.
4. AutoCAD and Drawing-Archive Stewardship
  • Use AutoCAD proficiently to prepare or revise site plans, circulation layouts, signage plans, coordination drawings and as-built records.
  • Administer the PVQ drawing archive, drawing register, folder structure, naming conventions, metadata, revision control, issue status and access permissions.
  • Maintain a controlled distinction between concept, review, approved-for-construction and as-built information, preventing obsolete drawings from being used.
  • Check consultant and contractor submissions for CAD quality, coordinates, layers, references, completeness and compliance with PVQ standards before acceptance.
  • Close every project with verified native CAD files, PDFs, approved changes and accurate as-built drawings; retrieve and issue reliable records promptly to authorized users.
5. Reporting and Team Contribution
  • Provide concise weekly reporting on progress, look-ahead activities, cost, risks, decisions and required management support.
  • Maintain professional project records and an auditable trail of instructions, approvals, submittals, inspections, changes and handover documents.
  • Support other Design & Projects assignments when operational priorities require, while retaining ownership of agreed project deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 4 years of hands-on responsibility for delivering refurbishment, civil, infrastructure or operational projects.
  • Demonstrated project-delivery experience within a complex live commercial asset. Shopping mall, traffic, parking, access, wayfinding or signage experience is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced working proficiency in AutoCAD, including confident review and production of coordinated 2D drawings.
  • Experience administering drawing registers, CAD archives, document-control workflows and as-built close-out.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or an equivalent project-management certification is preferred. MMUP/UPDA registration may be required where mandated by the assigned professional duties.
  • Qatar/GCC project experience and a valid driving licence are advantageous.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
  • Project controls: practical scheduling, budgeting, risk management, change control, procurement support and close-out.
  • Field orientation: comfortable spending substantial time on site, taking measurements, validating conditions and resolving issues directly.
  • Technical judgement: able to read and challenge multidisciplinary drawings and convert design information into executable work.
  • Communication: clear written reporting, effective meeting leadership, stakeholder management and confident contractor direction.
  • Ownership: organized, decisive and persistent in follow-up, with accountability for outcomes rather than coordination activity alone.
  • Digital capability: AutoCAD, Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic document-management systems; BIM/Revit familiarity is advantageous.
