Job summary

Mekdam Holding Group is seeking a Site Inspector-Architect to provide architectural engineering support for interior fit-out projects. You will review designs, monitor construction, and inspect architectural works to ensure compliance with contract requirements and high-quality workmanship.

You will coordinate with designers, consultants and subcontractors, prepare inspection reports, manage non-conformances, and participate in snagging, testing and final handover while upholding safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and professional registration preferred.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in architectural design, construction supervision or project management.
• 5+ years in high-end commercial office fit-out projects and Design & Build contracts.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, shop drawings and material submittals for compliance with project specs and standards.
• Inspect and monitor architectural and interior fit-out works, including partitions, ceilings, finishes and joinery.
• Coordinate with design consultants and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and integrate MEP works.
• Prepare inspection reports, NCRs and progress updates; review interim payments and variations.
• Participate in snagging, testing, commissioning and handover inspections.
• Ensure works comply with QCS, QCD requirements and applicable international standards.

Job description

Site Inspector-Architect

Role Objective: To provide architectural engineering support for the successful delivery of Design & Build interior fit‑out projects by reviewing designs, monitoring construction activities, inspecting architectural works, coordinating technical interfaces, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and workmanship throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

• Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical submissions for compliance with project specifications and company standards.
• Inspect and monitor all architectural and interior fit‑out works including partitions, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, doors, glazing, joinery, furniture, decorative finishes and specialist architectural elements.
• Coordinate with the Design & Build contractor, consultants and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless integration of architectural, structural and MEP works.
• Monitor construction progress and workmanship, identify quality deficiencies, issue observations and non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and verify corrective actions.
• Review mock‑ups, material samples and prototype installations prior to full‑scale implementation.
• Attend site inspections, progress meetings and technical coordination meetings, preparing inspection reports and progress updates.
• Verify completed works for interim payment applications and assist in the review of variation proposals related to architectural works.
• Participate in snagging, de‑snagging, testing, commissioning and final handover inspections.
• Ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, contract documents, Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Qatar Civil Defence (QCD) requirements and applicable international standards.
• Assist in maintaining project records including RFIs, site instructions, inspection requests, quality documentation and as‑built records.
• General Responsibilities in Quality, Environmental & Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems:
  • Aware of the QHSE Management System.
  • Understand the importance of conformance to the QHSE Policy and procedures and to the requirements of the QHSE management system.
  • Aware of the Customer Requirements (where relevant).
  • Aware of the Significant Environmental Aspects and Occupational Hazards / risk in this area of operation.
  • Understand the potential consequences of deviations from approved procedures, specifications and safety requirements.
  • Aware of current Objectives and Targets in this area and what is the current status.
  • Aware of merger Preparedness & Response.
  • Aware of Security Requirements, sexual exploitation and abuse or gender based violence.

Working Conditions & Hazards

• Normal office facilities (own office with desk, access to telephone).
• Some exposure to heat, cold, dirt, noise and rainy weather conditions; some time away from duty station, exposure to outdoor conditions.
• Some exposure to severe disagreeable conditions (noise, moisture, dust, excessive temperature, considerable dirt).
• Very slight chance of accident or health hazard, usual office situation.
• Exposure to security threats and/or other injury could occur in the course of work. Minor accidents possible.
• Job requires working with moving equipment that could inflict injuries; health hazards due to unsanitary conditions.
• Exposure to serious injuries through hazardous circumstances involving handling of equipment; may cause illness, incapacity and loss of time.
• Likelihood of frequent exposure to hazards or conditions that may cause total disability or death. Requires constant use of safety equipment.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture.
• Professional registration is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in architectural design, construction supervision or project management.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in high‑end commercial office fit‑out projects.
• Experience in Design & Build contracts is essential.
• Experience in Qatar and familiarity with UDC, Qatar Energy or major corporate office projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Qatar Civil Defence requirements and local authority approval processes.
