Lugar Futuro 2026, organised by Lugar Presente in Viseu, Portugal, is open to emerging choreographers to present one of their first works in contemporary dance. The festival will take place 26 to 29 March 2026.

The 6th edition of Lugar Futuro focuses on first works and seeks originality and innovation in contemporary dance, offering a platform for young choreographers to share their vision with audiences and professionals.

The call supports the presentation of completed choreographic works with a duration between 10 and 25 minutes.

Applicants must be choreographers aged between 18 and 30. Each piece may involve a maximum of five performers, accompanied by the choreographer or assistant and one technician, for up to seven people in total.

The festival offers technical support and promotion of the performances, while artists remain responsible for costumes, props, and artistic quality. In addition, the choreographer of the piece most voted by the audience will be invited to create a new work for a future edition.

The festival covers international travel costs (up to 500 EUR for international travel), transfers between Porto airport and Viseu, accommodation, and meals during the festival. Participants will also receive a free video recording and photographs of their work, and will be invited to join masterclasses, conferences, and other activities during their stay.
