Jobgether invites a Tech Lead/Sr Backend Engineer (Go) to own and evolve highly available backend systems in a cloud-native environment. You will lead architecture and implementation across microservices, Kubernetes, and Operator SDK, guiding teams and delivering scalable server-side solutions.

Based in Portugal with remote-friendly options, you will work across AWS, GCP, and Azure to modernize cloud infrastructure while maintaining operational reliability and long-term maintainability.

Qualificações

• You have 7+ years of professional backend development experience, including at least 5 years with Go.
• You have previous experience as a Tech Lead or team lead and strong cloud experience.
• You have production experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• You have hands-on experience developing Kubernetes Operators using Go and the Operator SDK.
• You understand RESTful services, microservices, and highly available systems.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Lead/Sr Backend (Go) Developer based in Portugal.

As a Tech Lead/Senior Backend Engineer, you will combine deep backend development expertise with hands-on ownership of modern cloud infrastructure. You will design and build scalable, resilient server-side systems while working closely with Kubernetes and containerized environments. A key focus of the role will be developing Kubernetes Operators and microservices using Go and the Operator SDK. You will contribute to high-availability architectures, disaster recovery capabilities, and long-term application maintainability. The role offers significant technical ownership, from architecture and development through deployment, scaling, and operational reliability. You will also provide technical leadership and help shape engineering practices across complex backend and infrastructure initiatives.

Accountabilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend applications with a strong focus on availability, reliability, maintainability, and operational resilience.
• Design and develop Kubernetes Operators using Go and the Operator SDK, implementing them as robust, production-ready microservices.
• Own backend solutions throughout their lifecycle, from technical architecture and implementation through deployment, scaling, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
• Develop RESTful architectures and server-side services that can support complex workloads while maintaining clean, maintainable code.
• Design and implement high-availability architectures and disaster recovery strategies to improve system resilience and minimize operational risk.
• Manage and support containerized environments using Kubernetes and, where relevant, Docker Swarm, including deployment, scaling, health management, and operational troubleshooting.
• Work with cloud infrastructure to develop and maintain systems that manage and orchestrate cloud resources effectively.
• Provide technical leadership through architectural decisions, engineering guidance, code quality practices, and collaboration with other developers.
• Contribute to the evolution of backend architecture and engineering standards, balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term technical health.
• Investigate complex technical issues across application and infrastructure layers and implement durable solutions.
• Collaborate across engineering and infrastructure disciplines to ensure backend services and underlying platforms operate reliably and efficiently.

Requirements:

• You have 7+ years of professional backend development experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Go.
• You have previous experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or in a comparable technical leadership position.
• You have strong production experience working with Kubernetes and understand container orchestration in real-world environments.
• You have hands-on experience developing Kubernetes Operators using Go and the Operator SDK.
• You have strong backend architecture skills, including experience designing RESTful services, microservices, and highly available systems.
• You understand principles of scalability, resilience, disaster recovery, containerization, and production system reliability.
• You have experience with AWS and, ideally, a proven track record of developing and maintaining Operators that manage AWS resources.
• Experience with GCP or Azure is also valuable and demonstrates broader cloud infrastructure knowledge.
• You are proficient in modern server-side development and may have additional experience with technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Rust.
• You are comfortable working across application and infrastructure layers and can bridge backend engineering with cloud-native operations.
• You demonstrate strong architectural judgment, problem-solving ability, and a pragmatic approach to building maintainable systems.
• You communicate effectively, can guide technical discussions, and are comfortable taking ownership of complex engineering initiatives.
• You are able to balance hands-on development with technical leadership and collaboration across engineering teams.
