Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Staff Backend Software Engineer in Portugal to build a secure transaction platform for interbank crypto transfers. You will design distributed systems in Go and PostgreSQL, mentor engineers, and drive AI-assisted development while ensuring reliability and compliance in a remote-first team.

You will own production systems, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams to translate

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend experience delivering complex projects end to end.
• Expertise in distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and fault tolerance.
• Proficiency in Go; strong in another statically typed language as backup.
• Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge including multi-tenant data management.
• Cloud experience (AWS or GCP) with Terraform familiarity.
• Experience with AI coding agents and integrating them into development.
• Strong written communication for remote collaboration.
• Solid security fundamentals for data in transit and at rest.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core components of a distributed transaction platform.
• Build resilient systems ensuring data correctness, tenant isolation, and auditability.
• Improve scalability with increasing transaction volumes and institutions per node.
• Produce technical design docs and review architecture proposals.
• Integrate AI coding agents into daily workflows with safe production code.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and customer teams to translate requirements.
• Own production systems end-to-end including tracing and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support platform reliability.
