Abbott Porto-based embedded software team is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain reliable firmware for our products. You will translate requirements into robust software that interacts with hardware, sensors, and communication interfaces.

Collaborate with hardware, systems, test, and product teams through the full product lifecycle—from concept through verification, release, and maintenance.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Minimum 6–8 years of related experience, or a Master’s with 4+ years.
• Strong embedded C programming and hardware interfacing experience.
• Experience applying Abbott's design development processes.

Responsabilidades

• Design, implement, and evaluate software for embedded systems.
• Assist in preparing software design requirements per Abbott's development process.
• Evaluate designs through testing and documentation addressing moderate scope problems.
• Participate in software development, verification, and validation under guidance.
• Adhere to Design Control procedures for software development.
• Demonstrate proficiency in software implementation.
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine action.

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining reliable embedded software and firmware for the company’s products. The role involves translating product and system requirements into robust software solutions that interact effectively with electronic hardware, sensors, and communication interfaces.

Working closely with hardware, systems, test, and product teams, the Embedded Software Engineer supports the complete product development lifecycle—from concept and prototyping through verification, release, and post-market maintenance. The role ensures that embedded solutions meet functional, performance, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate software using languages like C, C++.
• Assist in preparing software design requirements and specifications per Abbott's design development process.
• Evaluate selected designs through testing and documentation, addressing moderate scope problems.
• Participate in software development, verification, and validation under guidance.
• Adhere to Design Control procedures for software development.
• Demonstrate proficiency in software implementation.
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, or related field

Experience/Background

• Minimum 6-8 years of related experience or Master's Degree with 4+ years of related experience

Technical Skills / Knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of RFID technology
• Extensive knowledge of Microchip microcontrollers (PIC, AVR, SAM series)
• Proficiency with Atmel microcontrollers and development tools
• Strong background with Espressif SoCs (ESP32, ESP8266 series)
• Understanding of peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB)
• Advanced proficiency in C for embedded systems
