Job summary

Nordea Asset Management is seeking a Senior Operational Analyst in Settlement for Portugal, focusing on achieving timely settlement for Securities and driving automation and data-driven improvements. You will collaborate with custodians, brokers and internal teams across Europe to optimize post-trade processes, reduce manual work, and enhance straight-through processing (STP).

The role involves designing and validating automated solutions and mentoring colleagues in analytics and improvement

Qualifications

• 5+ years in financial operations with settlement/post-trade knowledge.
• Strong analytical skills and data handling.
• Experience contributing to process improvement, automation or change projects.
• Proficient written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Act as expert and escalation point for complex settlement fails, exceptions and market issues; work with counterparties, custodians and internal stakeholders on root-cause resolution.
• Analyse settlement data, fail patterns and process performance to identify trends, risks and opportunities for automation.
• Help design, test and implement automated and AI-enabled solutions, including defining use cases, business rules, exception logic and acceptance criteria.
• Supervise and validate the output of automated processes and agents, ensuring quality, control and regulatory compliance.
• Drive change: plan and support the rollout of new processes and tools, engage stakeholders, and help colleagues adopt new ways of working.
• Document processes, controls and decisions so that knowledge is structured, reusable and machine-readable.
• Share knowledge and coach colleagues, particularly junior team members, in analytical and improvement-oriented thinking.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and projects across Operations, Technology and Business.
