Job summary

Jobgether SRL is seeking a Senior QA Chapter Lead based in Portugal to drive hands-on QA engineering and establish standards across multiple squads. You will embed within one squad while shaping QA strategy, automation, tooling, and testing practices for the wider engineering function.

You will influence how quality is built into the lifecycle, from acceptance criteria and automated testing to CI quality gates, with significant technical ownership and no traditional people management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software QA experience with at least 2 years in a Lead QA role
• Strong automation engineering skills and production-quality test code in CI environments
• Deep experience with API testing including REST, contract testing, and integration testing
• Proven ability to define and maintain QA standards within Agile product or engineering teams
• Experience as an embedded QA contributor throughout the development lifecycle
• Strong understanding of Java-based backend environments and ability to test backend functionality
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to influence squads without direct authority
• High technical ownership, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

• Embed as a senior QA engineer within one squad and participate in sprint ceremonies
• Define acceptance criteria with Product Owners before sprints
• Design and maintain automated test suites across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
• Own the squad’s Definition of Done quality gate for releases
• Set QA standards across the engineering function, including test pyramids and CI gates
• Establish onboarding and baseline QA expectations for new engineers
• Lead a monthly QA Guild to align standards across engineering
• Manage QA automation frameworks, tools, and evolution
• Identify opportunities to improve testing technologies based on needs
• Monitor QA health metrics like coverage, flaky tests, and backlogs
• Partner with leadership to address cross-team quality issues
• Promote a proactive quality culture from design to release
