askblue in Lisbon is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the design and evolution of our internal developer platform. You will drive platform strategy, set golden paths, and partner with engineering teams to raise productivity and reliability.

This role blends hands-on engineering with leadership, mentoring platform engineers, shaping tooling, observability, and automation while balancing security, cost, and developer experience.

Qualificações

• Proven track record designing, building, and evolving platform capabilities used by engineering teams in production environments.
• Platform-as-product mindset with feedback loops, roadmaps, service expectations, and outcomes.
• Experience with internal developer platform concepts/tools such as Backstage, Humanitec, Port or equivalents.
• Experience designing golden paths, reusable service templates, standardized workflows, opinionated defaults, docs, onboarding.
• Strong expertise across modern platform stack (Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, cloud infra, observability).
• Strong developer ergonomics judgment across APIs, CLIs, docs, onboarding, and templates.
• Experience defining platform operating models (ownership, escalation, support, adoption).
• Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, container platforms, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices.
• Infrastructure as code experience (Terraform or similar).
• CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace).
• Ability to influence engineering teams with credibility, clear docs, and pragmatic decisions.
• Security, reliability, scalability and cost-awareness in platform design.

Responsabilidades

• Platform Vision and Roadmap: Define direction and translate into a roadmap with measurable outcomes.
• Internal Developer Platform: Lead design/evolution of platform capabilities and tooling adoption.
• Golden Paths and Developer Workflows: Define templates, defaults, and workflows for consistency.
• Developer Experience: Improve onboarding, docs, APIs, CLIs, templates, tooling, and support.
• Developer Experience Measurement: Use DORA, SPACE, feedback, and adoption metrics.
• Platform API and Operating Model: Define contracts, ownership, and escalation boundaries.
• Observability and Reliability Enablement: Improve telemetry, dashboards, and reliability.
• Mentorship and Enablement: Grow platform engineers’ ownership and skills.
• Engineering-wide Influence: Collaborate with leadership on broader improvements.
• Stay updated: Track trends in platform engineering and cloud-native tooling.
