Job summary

Hexa is seeking a Senior Java Spring Batch Developer in Lisbon to join our enterprise engineering team. The role focuses on designing, implementing and optimizing batch processing and backend components within a financial services context.

You will work in a hybrid model with two days in the Lisbon office, collaborating with international teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems for high-volume transactions. Strong Java/Spring Batch skills and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• 6 to 9 years of professional experience in Java development, including substantial experience with backend systems and batch processing.
• Higher education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven ability to independently deliver complex technical solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to troubleshooting, performance optimization and data integrity.
• Professional working proficiency in English, equivalent to B2/C1 or above.
• Experience working with Agile teams and collaborating with international stakeholders.
• Effective communication, attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative approach.
• Availability to work in Lisbon under a hybrid model, with two days per week at the office.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable batch processing solutions using Java and Spring Batch.
• Develop backend components that support complex business operations and transaction processing.
• Optimize data processing performance, database interactions and transaction management.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into maintainable software solutions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Improve application reliability through automated testing, code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Investigate production incidents, identify performance bottlenecks and implement sustainable technical improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment processes across enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Promote code quality, technical standardization and continuous improvement throughout the development lifecycle.
