Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Java Engineer focused on payments to join a distributed engineering team. You will design and deliver scalable Java/Spring Boot applications, with ownership of features from design to production deployment.

You will lead technical architecture, build robust payment integrations, and ensure reliability, security, and regulatory compliance across multiple platforms and clients worldwide.

Qualifications

• At least seven years of professional Java development experience designing, delivering, and operating complex systems.
• Hands-on experience building or operating payments/fintech systems with focus on transaction lifecycles and compliance.
• Advanced Java and Spring expertise with REST and event-driven microservices.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, idempotency and exactly-once processing.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL/MySQL, Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong API design skills with OpenAPI and reliable external integrations.
• Build and delivery tooling including Gradle/Maven, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions.
• Cloud and containerization with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Testing and observability using JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana.
• AI-assisted engineering usage and ability to review generated code for quality.
• Technical leadership: mentoring, code reviews, architectural decisions.
• Clear communication across distributed teams and clients.
• Security and regulatory awareness; ISO 20022 / 3-D Secure are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications using Spring Boot for payment platforms.
• Lead architectural decisions, data models and integration patterns for complex components.
• Deliver secure, reliable payment solutions with external APIs and third-party providers.
• Ensure performance, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance across systems.
• Build event-driven workflows with Kafka and robust asynchronous processing.
• Collaborate with product, solution architects, and DevOps to translate requirements.
• Improve CI/CD, testing, observability, and deployment practices.
• Promote code quality through reviews and engineering best practices.
• Handle production incidents and implement durable fixes.
• Embrace AI-assisted tooling while ensuring correctness and security.
