1GLOBAL is seeking a Senior IP Network Engineer to architect, deploy, and optimise a global IP backbone spanning multiple regions, including interconnections with MNOs and cross‑continental data centers. You will drive SDN/SD-WAN initiatives, automate deployments with IaC tools, and ensure scalable, secure connectivity across cloud platforms.

The role requires 10+ years in IP networking, expertise in IPv6, BGP/OSPF, MPLS, and a strong business‑savvy approach to cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as an IP/Networking Engineer with high-availability, scalable networks.
• Experience designing mobile IP backhaul networks for 4G/5G.
• Expertise with SD-WAN and SDN technologies like Cisco ACI.
• IPv6 deployment and QoS configuration for high-performance connectivity.
• Data center/backbone design for global interconnections.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP stack and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
• Security hardening and compliance (PCI-DSS, ISO27001, CIS).
• Network automation and IaC with Terraform/Ansible.

Responsibilities

As a Senior IP Engineer / Architect, you will be at the forefront of shaping and evolving our global IP backbone, ensuring it supports interconnections with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and spans cross‑continental data centers. You’ll leverage SDN technologies to design and optimise network architectures that ensure seamless scalability, security, and performance. About the Role

• SD-WAN Implementation & Optimisation: Lead the deployment and optimisation of SD-WAN solutions to enhance wide area network performance, simplify network management, and reduce costs across our global infrastructure.
• SDN Architecture & Integration: Architect and implement SDN solutions to drive network automation, flexibility, and scalability, enabling centralised control and streamlined management of network resources.
• Global Network Design: Design, deploy, and manage a high-performance, global IP backbone, ensuring reliable interconnections with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and seamless cross-continental data center connectivity.
• Traffic Optimisation: Use SD-WAN to optimise network traffic, ensuring intelligent routing and minimising latency, while leveraging SDN to improve overall network efficiency and performance across regions.
• Cloud Integration: Seamlessly integrate modern solutions with cloud environments to ensure high availability, low-latency, and scalable connectivity across multiple cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, OCI).
• Network Security & Compliance: Implement robust security policies for SD-WAN, Zero Trust models, VPNs, and firewalls, ensuring compliance with industry standards and securing cross-border data flows.
• Collaboration & Cross-Functional Engagement: Work closely with business units and cross-functional teams to deliver network solutions that meet evolving needs and ensure seamless service delivery.
• Automation & Orchestration: Leverage automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and SD-WAN controllers to streamline deployment and optimize network configurations for operational efficiency.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Continuously monitor, analyze, and improve network performance using SD-WAN analytics and SDN monitoring tools, ensuring reliability and operational excellence.
• Documentation & Reporting: Ensure thorough and up-to-date network documentation, while delivering clear reports on network performance, scalability, and security to stakeholders.

About You

• Experience: 10+ years as an IP/Networking Engineer, with expertise in designing, deploying, and managing high-availability, scalable intercontinental networks.
• Mobile IP Networks & Backhaul: Extensive experience designing and managing IP-based mobile backhaul networks for 4G/5G, ensuring seamless delivery of traffic, data, and voice services.
• SD-WAN & SDN: Proven expertise with SD-WAN and SDN technologies like Cisco ACI, enabling network automation and optimization of global IP backbones.
• IPv6 & QoS: Strong experience with IPv6 deployment and QoS configuration to optimize bandwidth and ensure high-performance, reliable connectivity.
• Data Center & Backbone Design: Skilled in designing and managing global IP backbones and interconnected data centers for high-performance, low‑latency connections.
• Advanced Network Protocols: Expert-level knowledge in TCP/IP stack, including TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, and other essential protocols. Proficient in dynamic routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
• Network Security & Compliance: Expertise in IPSec VPNs, security hardening, and compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO27001, CIS).
• Layer 2 & Layer 3 Management: Hands‑on experience managing Layer 2 (STP, MSTP) and Layer 3 multiservice networks with MPLS and traffic engineering.
• Network Automation & IaC: Proficient in Terraform, Ansible, and other tools to automate network provisioning and streamline deployments.
• Network Monitoring & Observability: Expertise in tools like Prometheus, Grafana, SNMP, and Wireshark for network monitoring and performance optimization.
