Job summary

INSCALE is a global IT scaling partner seeking a senior backend engineer in Lisbon. You will own backend features end-to-end using Go on AWS, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate across product, design and data teams.

You will build scalable, cloud-native services, implement AI-assisted workflows with Claude Code, and ensure GDPR and EU AI Act compliance while mentoring junior engineers. Two days per week in Lisbon, Avenida da Liberdade, Nr. 36, 7th floor.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend experience with production Go preferred.
• Strong architecture sense and API design (REST/gRPC).
• Deep PostgreSQL experience including schema and queries.
• Experience with cloud-native design on AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and Claude Code.
• Mentor juniors and contribute to architectural direction.

Responsibilities

• Own complete backend feature development from spec through deployment — Go on AWS.
• Lead architectural discussions and document ADRs/LLD/HLD decisions.
• Build and review AI agent workflows using Claude Code; oversee integration.
• Design and operate scalable event-driven services—APIs, queues, and jobs.
• Integrate with internal platform services and third-party APIs.
• Enforce GDPR and EU AI Act compliance in every feature.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers; uphold code quality and practices.
• Collaborate with product, design and data across a global team.
