Connect Digital in Lisbon seeks a Senior Frontend Engineer/Frontend Architect to lead modern frontend architectures and scalable, high-performance experiences. You will drive rendering strategies, CMS/DXP integrations, and robust API ecosystems in a multi-team setting.

The role blends architectural leadership with hands-on delivery, working across product, design, and backend teams to ensure optimal performance, governance, and edge-caching strategies in a hybrid environment.

Qualificações

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Frontend Engineer/Frontend Architect with deep expertise in modern frontend architecture, rendering models, caching strategies, and integration with headless CMS and DXP platforms. This hybrid role is based in Lisbon and is ideal for someone who masters modern frontend ecosystems, understands performance and rendering pipelines in depth, and thrives in complex, multi-team and multi-product environments.

You will help architect and deliver scalable, high-performance digital experiences using modern frameworks, reusable modules, advanced caching strategies, robust API integrations, and strong technical governance practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable frontend solutions using modern frameworks and rendering strategies, including SSR, SSG, ISR, streaming, and edge rendering.
• Define and govern reusable modules, ensuring versioning, quality, and seamless integration across teams.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver high-performance and reliable digital experiences.
• Integrate headless CMS and DXP platforms, ensuring efficient content models, editorial workflows, and multi-language experiences.
• Optimise caching and performance pipelines, including edge networks, CDNs, and advanced invalidation strategies.
• Develop and maintain robust, secure, and scalable API integrations.
• Contribute to CI/CD practices, automation, code quality, and technical governance in enterprise environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in frontend engineering, frontend architecture, or similar roles.
• Proficiency in modern frontend architecture, including component-based architecture, routing, state management, data fetching, forms and validation, rendering models, hydration, and performance optimisation.
• Deep understanding of client-side rendering, server-side rendering, static site generation, hydration, and modern rendering pipelines.
• Expertise in integrating and governing reusable modules using package management tools such as npm, Yarn, pnpm, or Bun.
• Strong knowledge of semantic versioning, dependency conflicts, rollback strategies, and package publishing workflows.
• Deep understanding of SSR architectures, rendering models, and frameworks such as Next.js, Nuxt, SvelteKit, Angular Universal, Remix, or Express-based backend-for-frontend solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of caching strategies, including cache-control headers, edge caching, TTLs, stale content management, and personalised content cache separation.
• Broad familiarity with CMS and DXP platforms such as Optimizely, Adobe Experience Manager, Contentful, Drupal, or similar systems.
• Experience with content modelling, translations, hybrid/headless architecture, and editorial workflows.
• Proficiency in API integration, including REST API design, authentication protocols, OpenAPI contracts, retry logic, error handling, logging, and rate limits.
• Experience overseeing CI/CD practices and production workflows in multi-team delivery environments.

Salary & Benefits

• Gross annual salary: €33,000–€36,000*, depending on experience and suitability for the role.
