Job summary

Jobgether in Portugal is recruiting a Senior Engineering Manager, Dev Tools to lead two engineering teams building and maintaining essential developer tools for smart contracts. You will shape product strategy, guide architecture, and drive initiatives with a remote-first culture, collaborating with open-source communities and stakeholders.

You will own the technical roadmap, mentor engineers, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality features while balancing technical depth with people

Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading and developing engineering teams (remote/asynchronous).
• Ability to translate ecosystem needs into technical strategy and roadmaps.
• Strong communication and collaboration across product, leadership, and open-source communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction across Hardhat and EDR teams.
• Own the broader product vision and technical roadmap.
• Guide projects from planning through release with MVPs and milestones.
• Collaborate to define milestones, feasibility, scope, and dependencies.
• Promote scalable, robust architectures and manage technical risks.
• Lead two teams with ~4 and ~3 engineers; focus on growth and performance.
• Establish clear ownership, autonomy, and learning within teams.
• Improve hiring, performance reviews, and career development.
• Coordinate priorities across teams and ensure alignment with org goals.
• Engage with leadership, product, and the open-source community for feedback.
• Communicate progress and milestones clearly to stakeholders.
• Champion developer ecosystem impact and long-term tooling needs.
• Maintain lightweight processes enabling fast, quality development.
