We are looking for a Senior C++ SoftwarePerformance Engineer to join a highly specialized engineeringteam working on the performance optimization of a large-scale in-memorydatabase and data management platform.

This is an opportunity for engineers who enjoy goingbeyond application development and diving deep into CPUarchitecture, profiling, debugging, algorithms, memory behaviour and low-levelperformance optimization.

You will investigate complex performance issues, identify bottlenecks,compare different hardware architectures and develop proof-of-conceptoptimizations that can have a direct impact on the performance ofmission-critical database technology.

What You’ll Be Working On

As a Software Performance Engineer, you will investigateand optimize the performance of a complex, high-performance databaseenvironment running across different processor architectures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing exploratory performance analysis and root causeinvestigation
• Identifying Intel x86-specific optimizationopportunities
• Analysing CPU-levelperformance bottlenecks
• Comparing performanceresults across different hardware platforms
• Using profiling tools toinvestigate complex performance issues
• Developing proof-of-concept (PoC) C++ code changes
• Building and extendinginternal performance analysis tools
• Working with datastructures, algorithms and software architecture to improve efficiency
• Collaborating closely withhighly specialized engineering and hardware teams

Mandatory Requirements

Therequirements below are mandatory and eliminatory. Candidates who do notdemonstrate these skills will not be considered for the position.

You must have:

• Strong C++ programming skills
• Excellent knowledge of Intel x86architecture and its specific characteristics
• Proven experience with software performance analysis andoptimization
• Hands-on experience usingprofiling tools such as Linuxperf and/or Intel VTune
• Strong ability to analyse, troubleshoot and debug complextechnical problems
• Solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Good understanding of software design principles
• English B2+ or higher,with professional written and verbal communication skills
• Availability to work underthe proposed model, unless approved for a fully remote arrangement

Nice to Have /Differentiators

• Knowledge of RDBMS / relational database systems
• Experience with in-memory databases
• Experience with the aarch64 / ARM64 architecture

The Profile We’re LookingFor

This role is particularly suited to an engineer who isnaturally curious about why software behaves the way it does atmachine level.

You are comfortable moving between C++ code, profilingresults, CPU architecture, algorithms and system behaviour. Instead of simplyfixing symptoms, you enjoy finding the actual root cause ofperformance problems.

You should also be comfortable working in a highlytechnical environment where experimentation, benchmarking, debugging andproof-of-concept development are part of everyday engineering.
