Job summary

Planck Technologies is seeking a skilled Performance Engineer to analyze and optimize software for Intel x86 systems, including cross-architecture comparison with aarch64. You will develop PoC changes, build tooling, and collaborate with the SAP HANA performance team to enhance efficiency.

Hybrid work arrangement with 2 days in the office per week; fully remote may be considered. English communication required, with a focus on performance tuning and debugging complex systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development or performance optimization.
• Excellent knowledge of Intel x86 architecture and its characteristics.
• Proven experience using profiling tools such as perf and Intel VTune.
• Strong ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and debug complex problems.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience with performance analysis, benchmarking and low-level optimization.
• Ability to compare performance across hardware architectures.

Responsibilities

• Perform exploratory performance analysis and root cause investigations in SAP HANA.
• Identify optimization opportunities for Intel x86 architecture.
• Analyze and compare results across hardware platforms including x86 and aarch64.
• Develop PoC code changes to validate optimizations.
• Build and extend performance analysis and diagnostic tools.
• Use perf and Intel VTune to investigate bottlenecks and improve performance.
• Analyze low-level system behavior to identify limits and opportunities.
• Collaborate with on-site Intel team to implement performance improvements.

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development or performance optimization (candidates with all the required technical skills may also be considered with less experience).
• Excellent knowledge of Intel x86 architecture and its specific characteristics.
• Proven experience using profiling tools such as perf and Intel VTune to analyze performance issues.
• Strong ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and debug complex technical problems.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

What will you do?

• Perform exploratory performance analysis and root cause investigations within the SAP HANA database.
• Identify and evaluate optimization opportunities specific to Intel x86 architecture.
• Analyze and compare performance results across different hardware platforms, including Intel x86 and aarch64.
• Develop and implement proof-of-concept (PoC) code changes to validate potential optimizations.
• Build, maintain, and extend performance analysis and diagnostic tools.
• Use profiling tools such as perf and Intel VTune to investigate bottlenecks and improve performance.
• Analyze low-level system behavior to identify performance limitations and optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with the on-site Intel team to investigate and implement performance improvements.Work alongside the SAP HANA performance team to enhance database efficiency and reliability.

Working Model:
