The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience, strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, and a collaborative spirit. The position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for 3 days per week in the Porto office.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Developer, to join our international technology team. This role is focused on database development, data migration, ETL processes, and supporting scalable SaaS products in a complex and secure environment.

You will work closely with developers, product managers, and technical teams to design, optimize, and maintain high-performance database solutions while ensuring security, resilience, and best practices across all database operations.

Hybrid work model — 3 days per week in the Porto Office

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, indexes, and database objects
• Support and lead data migration initiatives between different generations of applications
• Assist with data acquisition processes for online products
• Optimize complex queries and improve database performance and scalability
• Collaborate with software developers to implement new data-driven products and features
• Recommend and implement database structures, security, backup, and recovery strategies
• Ensure database integrity, security, availability, and resilience
• Manage disaster recovery processes and database maintenance activities
• Implement and maintain automated maintenance plans and backup routines
• Research and introduce new database technologies and best practices
• Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation
• Ensure all development follows coding standards, maintainability, and performance best practices
• Work collaboratively across different sites and time zones in an international environment

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in database development with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server
• Advanced experience writing and troubleshooting complex SQL code
• Experience with ETL processes and ETL tools such as SSIS
• Experience with data migration projects across different generations of applications
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server 2016+
• Deep understanding of database architecture, principles, and best practices
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server internals and query performance tuning
• Experience working in SaaS environments is highly desirable
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-driven, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in distributed international teams
• Comfortable working under pressure in fast-paced environments
• High-quality, maintainable, and efficient database source code
• Highly available, performant, and resilient database solutions

Salary Range

€30,000 – €35,000 gross per year, depending on experience, technical expertise, and seniority level.
