Job summary

act digital in Porto, Portugal, is looking for a Senior/Lead Developer to shape robust backend systems. You will design API-centric microservices using Java/Kotlin with Spring Boot, applying DDD and Clean Architecture while mentoring teams.

You will lead REST API design with OpenAPI, ensure code quality through unit and integration tests, and collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects and DevOps. Fluent French is mandatory.

• Proven experience as a Senior Developer or Lead Developer.
• Java — expert level / mandatory.
• Strong experience with Kotlin.
• Advanced experience with Spring / Spring Boot, including Spring Batch, Spring Data and Spring Security.
• Strong hands-on experience with Domain Driven Design (DDD).
• Knowledge of Clean Architecture and design patterns.
• Advanced experience in REST API Design, including contracts, versioning, security, error handling and OpenAPI.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Experience with SQL and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of Angular, particularly API integration and front-end architecture concepts — nice to have.
• Experience with OpenShift.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, logging and monitoring.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, with a strong focus on code quality.
• Strong background in software architecture, software design and design patterns.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews and mentor development teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with Product Owners, Architects and DevOps teams.

Responsibilities

• Define, evolve, and oversee the implementation of software architecture, with a focus on API-centric, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Apply and promote Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture principles.
• Design and develop robust and scalable back-end services using Java / Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Lead the design and evolution of REST APIs, ensuring clear contracts, versioning, security, error handling, and documentation through OpenAPI.
• Develop and maintain batch processing solutions using Spring Batch.
• Ensure high standards of code quality and test coverage, including unit and integration testing.
• Conduct code reviews and promote development best practices, design patterns, and engineering standards.
• Act as a technical reference for development teams, providing mentoring and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Software Architects, and DevOps teams on solution design and implementation.
• Contribute to the definition of integration and event-processing strategies using Kafka.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, namely SQL and MongoDB.
• Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of applications running in OpenShift environments.
