Xpertsoft in Portugal is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot. You will architect microservices and build event-driven systems with Kafka, while delivering high-performance APIs using gRPC and deploying on Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes Hexagonal Architecture, agile collaboration, and active participation in code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices to ensure reliable, scalable software solutions.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of experience in Backend Development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Microservices Architectures.
• Solid experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Experience implementing services and APIs using gRPC.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Strong understanding and practical application of Hexagonal Architecture.
• Experience working in agile environments and distributed teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• English proficiency: minimum C1 level.
• Based in Portugal or legally eligible to work in Portugal.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement microservices-based systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
• Develop and integrate event-driven architectures using Kafka for asynchronous communication and data streaming.
• Design and implement high-performance APIs and inter-service communication using gRPC.
• Build, deploy, and optimize cloud-native applications running on Kubernetes.
• Apply Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters) principles to create modular and testable systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, QA, and Engineering to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to software architecture decisions, technical standards, and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to support engineering excellence.
• Explore and implement Agentic Engineering approaches, including AI-powered workflows, autonomous agents, and intelligent orchestration where applicable.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system reliability.
• Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, development workflows, and engineering practices.
