Capgemini Portugal is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices. You will implement REST APIs, event-driven integrations (Kafka), and collaborate closely with architects and product owners to ensure secure, observable, and high-performance systems.

You will own backend features end-to-end, contribute to engineering best practices, and mentor teammates while supporting cloud-native deployments in a hybrid

Qualificações

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot expertise.
• Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
• Hands-on with REST APIs and event-driven architectures, Kafka.
• Cloud-native technologies, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration in agile teams; fluent in English.

YOUR ROLE

• Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable and resilient backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Design and implement REST APIs and event-driven integrations, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
• Take ownership of backend features throughout the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and support.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and development teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions aligned with business needs.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and the adoption of engineering best practices.
• Support cloud-native applications, focusing on system stability, observability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor team members and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

YOUR PROFILE

• 5+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
• Hands‑on experience with REST APIs and event-driven architectures, preferably using Kafka.
• Good understanding of software architecture principles, distributed systems, and integration patterns.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies, CI/CD practices, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in agile and cross‑functional teams.
• Fluent in English.
