You have the opportunity to join our team and tackle business challenges in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment characterized by close collaboration with business stakeholders.
As a SAP Trade Compliance Consultant, you will support, enhance, and optimize the SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) processes that keep customs and trade compliance running smoothly for a global market leader in chemical and ingredients distribution, operating across dozens of countries and serving hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide.
You will work closely with Customs, Sales, and Procurement teams, together with external customs systems and service providers, to design and maintain efficient, standardized trade compliance and customs management processes — while supporting an ongoing SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation and process harmonization effort.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Business Consulting & Process Management: Advise Customs, Sales, and Procurement teams on SAP GTS processes and best practices. Analyze and model complex business processes, and support their implementation in SAP GTS and SAP ERP. Participate in designing customs processes and consulting customs departments, including sub-project management on cross-functional and corporate projects.
- SAP System Support & Configuration: Configure, customize, and maintain the SAP GTS system, including its technical connection to external customs systems and service providers. Ensure stable, reliable system operations, and perform root cause analysis and issue resolution.
- Incident & Change Management: Provide second- and third-level support for SAP GTS applications. Debug, create ad-hoc reports, and resolve minor issues. Document requirements and changes using ServiceNow and SAP Cloud Application Management (CALM).
- Project Support: Participate in local and global SAP implementation, enhancement, and rollout projects, including the ongoing SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation and process harmonization initiatives. Prepare functional and technical specifications and test scenarios, and execute system, integration, and user acceptance testing.
Your Skills and Experiences:
- Several years of professional experience consulting in SAP GTS system environments — or, alternatively, senior-level experience as an SAP SD (Sales & Distribution) consultant with a genuine interest in growing into trade compliance and customs/licensing management; direct SAP GTS experience is valued but not a strict prerequisite for a strong SD background.
- Good customizing, data, and process knowledge in SAP GTS and feeder areas such as MM, LO, SD, and EWM.
- Good ABAP knowledge and experience in project management.
- Basic knowledge of customs regulations in one or more European countries.
- Analytical, process-oriented mindset with excellent communication and consulting skills.
- Customer-focused, service-oriented approach, able to work independently and in a structured manner.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in international, cross-functional environments.
- A degree in business informatics, a related scientific field, or additional qualifications in SAP GTS/SAP SD is a plus, but not required.
- Experience in the chemical distribution industry is a plus.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
