Xelerate is building a new Tech Hub in Porto and seeks a Data Migration Lead to drive end-to-end data migration for a global SAP S/4HANA ERP transformation. You will ensure master and transactional data are extracted, cleansed, transformed, validated, and migrated across legacy and SAP systems while adhering to data governance and regulatory requirements.

Data Migration Lead (SAP ERP Transformation)

xelerate.tech is partnering with a global market leader in chemical and ingredients distribution to build a new Tech Hub in Porto.

As a Data Migration Lead, you will drive the end-to-end data migration cross-functional workstream for a global SAP S/4HANA ERP transformation.

You will ensure that all master and transactional data is accurately extracted, cleansed, transformed, validated, and migrated from non-SAP and SAP legacy systems into the new environment, proactively going above and beyond to ensure local businesses can successfully transition while maintaining strict compliance with company policies.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team of business data owners, data analysts, system integrators, and functional consultants. Coordinate across Commercial, Supply Chain, and Finance domains to validate data requirements and mapping rules as the primary point of contact for the data migration workstream.
• Data Migration Strategy & Planning: Develop and maintain the program's data migration strategy, roadmap, and standards, including the tool chain. Define data objects, migration scope, dependencies, sequencing, cutover requirements, and establish governance models and KPIs.
• End-to-End Data Migration Management: Oversee extraction, profiling, cleansing, enrichment, mapping, transformation, and loading activities. Guide the creation of data mapping documents and validation rules, ensure legacy system data readiness, and manage defect resolution for mock loads and cutover cycles.
• Tools, Technology & Quality Assurance: Work with ETL and data migration tools (e.g., SAP Data Services) to implement automated and manual data validation processes. Monitor data quality, identify issues, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure strict compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, SOX, audit controls).
• Cutover & Go-Live Execution: Lead data migration activities during mock conversions, rehearsals, and production cutovers. Manage load sequencing, dependencies, error handling, reconciliation, and support post-go-live stabilization and hypercare issue resolution.
• Stakeholder Management & Reporting: Communicate progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans to program leadership. Prepare executive-level dashboards and maintain strong working relationships with business stakeholders, system integrators, and external vendors.

Your Skills and Experiences:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Data Management, or related industry experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in data migration for ERP projects, with proven experience leading data migration in at least one full-cycle ERP transformation.
• Strong technical knowledge of data migration methods, ETL processes, and validation techniques, coupled with hands-on experience using data profiling, cleansing, and transformation tools (e.g., SAP Data Services).
• Deep understanding of master data, transactional data, and integration between ERP modules.
• Proficiency with SQL and complex data analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to manage diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, characterized by a highly proactive, solution-oriented approach and high attention to detail.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
