Job summary

Decskill is expanding its SAP BusinessObjects practice in Lisbon, seeking a Technical Expert to lead upgrades, migrations, and architecture across enterprise environments. You will design universes, manage IDT transitions, and ensure performance and security across diverse databases.

The role requires strong SAP BO expertise, Linux administration, and ability to operate with English and French language proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or related field.
• Extensive SAP BO experience including migrations.
• Experience with large-scale SAP BI environments.
• Linux administration experience for SAP BO deployments.
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata).
• Excellent English and working knowledge of French.

Responsibilities

• Participate in SAP BO platform upgrades and major-version migrations.
• Design, create, and evolve SAP BO universes, ensuring data model quality and query performance.
• Migrate UNV universes to UNX using IDT; migrate using the Universe Design Tool to IDT.
• Analyse dependencies between universes, reports, schedules, and data sources.
• Install, configure SAP BO architectures on enterprise Linux servers across DEV/REC/UAT/PROD.
• Manage SAP BO security, including users, groups, roles, and access profiles.
• Migrate and reconfigure SAP BO connections across IBM DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata.
• Design high-performance data pipelines and optimise SAP BO queries.
• Automate end-to-end release of SAP BO artefacts across environments.
• Perform testing (functional, regression, performance, security, validation).
• Manage SAP BO backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Tune performance, sizing, and optimisation.
• Troubleshoot issues via logs, audits, and root-cause analysis.
• Produce technical docs and governance artifacts.
• Provide post-go-live support and hypercare.
• Contribute to SAP BO expertise in the BI team.

We are looking for a SAP BusinessObjects Technical Expert!

Responsibilities:

• Participate in SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BO) platform upgrades, including major-version migrations from BO4 to BO5.
• Design, create, and evolve SAP BO universes, ensuring data model quality and query performance.
• Migrate and rebuild complex UNV universes into UNX universes using the Information Design Tool (IDT).
• Migrate universes from the Universe Design Tool to IDT, including tables, columns, joins, contexts, aliases, derived tables, parameters, and security profiles.
• Analyse dependencies between universes, reports, schedules, and data sources.
• Install, configure, and implement SAP BO architectures on enterprise Linux servers across DEV, REC, UAT, and PROD environments.
• Implement and manage SAP BO security, including users, groups, roles, entitlements, row-level security, object-level security, folder security, and access profiles.
• Migrate and reconfigure SAP BO connections across different database technologies, including IBM DB2, SAP Sybase, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Design high-performance data pipelines and optimise database models and SAP BO queries.
• Automate the end-to-end release of SAP BO artefacts across environments.
• Perform functional, regression, performance, security, and report validation testing.
• Manage SAP BO backup and restore processes, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Perform SAP BO performance tuning, sizing, and optimisation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues through auditing, log analysis, performance analysis, root-cause investigation, and critical incident resolution.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, including architecture documentation, operational procedures, runbooks, governance standards, and migration documentation.
• Provide post-go-live support and participate in hypercare activities.
• Contribute to the consolidation and development of SAP BusinessObjects expertise within the BI team.

Requirements:

• University degree, or equivalent experience, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in SAP BusinessObjects, including universe creation, evolution, version upgrades, and migrations.
• Proven experience with large-scale SAP BI environments involving hundreds or thousands of reports and users.
• Strong knowledge of SAP BO architecture and core components, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Auditing, Promotion Management, and Lifecycle Management.
• Extensive hands-on experience with the Information Design Tool (IDT) and universe migration from UNV to UNX.
• Strong knowledge of database management and optimisation, including technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Teradata.
• Expert knowledge of Linux and experience installing and configuring SAP BO in enterprise Linux environments.
• Experience implementing and managing SAP BO security, user groups, access restrictions, and security profiles.
• Knowledge of SAP BO performance optimisation, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with testing, troubleshooting, and resolving critical incidents in enterprise BI environments.
• Practical knowledge of Python.
• Familiarity with data visualisation and analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or Dataiku.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and support governance standards.
• Excellent command of English.
• Working knowledge of French.

Nice to have:

• Experience with digital product deployments and third-party data governance.
• Previous experience working in a BNP Paribas environment.
